Hi, Ladies! I'm in the process of weaning Emma. Yay and boo at the same time. Off dairy and most gluten I've lost weight and have been depressed a lot. Also my nipples keep cracking. These last few weeks I've been pumping only once a day at work, but still hurting. Emma was voracious last weekend and my nipples were killing me. Sooooo I decided to supplement more at home as well as at daycare. She kept looking to nurse when I offered a bottle, which sucked. However, this week she turned a corner and started liking formula at home. This is the "happy/sad" I was really looking for as a "go" to wean her. I didn't pump at all at work yesterday, but had to pump before work on one side and hand express on the same (most broken) side after she went to bed last night. Of course she is nursing at the moment with a super stuffy nose. However, I have a plan. We nurse in the morning. We do formula at school or in afternoon at home. I nurse or pump in the evening if I need to, otherwise, nope, heal, and keep giving bottles. She's on some more solids when she feels up to it: eating cereal with formula in it (daily), baby food purée (recently daily at school), banana chunks (when I have fresh ripe bananas), Baby Mum Mums (to practice chewing and feel part of our mealtime), Cheerios (chewing and fine motor skills), and the occasional chunk of avocado or sweet potato from my plate.... She also likes sucking on apple slices, but I have to be careful not to let a chunk break off. Anyway. We are tired of virus after virus hitting us along with the diet changes. We are making it, though. Off dairy her tummy seems happy. Daycare claims she has diarrhea sometimes. I'm not convinced. She's the only breastfeed infant there, and bf poops are different than formula/solid food poop. I'm guessing when she has more bf at certain times of day she poops less solid, and that's fine. She's huge. At 7.5 months, she's still in 9 month clothes, some fitting tighter depending on the outfit. Her weight when I hold her on a scale is approaching 18 lb. She feels very solid and heavy when you hold her for long. She's still belly crawling, but now pulling up on furniture on her knees. Also, she just learned to clap this week! Pics to come.
