Probably Be Induced Before October

Last Friday I had a good MFM appointment. Perfectly healthy and normal, except my blood pressure was slightly elevated. Very slightly. Oh, and I had gained 9 pounds in a week! I told them that I had noticed my feet swelling a couple of times. My MfM told me to take the next week easy and try to stay off of my feet and keep them elevated. However Saturday was my family & friends baby shower. It was held in my hometown 2 hours away. I noticed when we got close to the shower my feet were slightly swollen, but brushed it off. After the shower, on the way home, we barely got 10 minutes into the trip when I noticed my feet looked SUPER swollen. When we got home I checked my blood pressure and it was elevated. So I did spend the weekend resting and trying to stay off of my feet. But my blood pressure, while not staying high constantly, would go up to the 150/90’s if I so much as walked to the bathroom. Today I had another MFM appointment. My blood pressure was 138/88. (Mine normally runs in the 120/70’s). The baby did great for the biophysical profile. 8/8! But after the ultrasound they sent me to a consult room. The doctor came in and told me I have very mild preeclampsia. I passed trace protein in my urine. So with the swelling, blood pressure and protein...not good—but not severe. She said she thought my OB has planned the induction for 37-38 weeks, but no. Tentative induction is at 39 weeks. MFM wants to move it up. She said that she wanted me to go today for blood work and to complete a 24 hour urine thing tomorrow. Then we will go from there. Luckily I have an OB appointment in the morning. I figure that with the news from today, we will probably be inducing sometime around 37 weeks.
I’m sad I have finally developed a problem. This whole pregnancy has been so easy so far. My diabetes is even doing awesome. They have me so regulated that I get to eat things I crave and I don’t feel like I’m suffering. My fasting numbers have been 70’s-90’s which is awesome!
We still don’t have our crib yet (on it’s way.) but her bassinet is ready to go. We are all set, except I still haven’t found her “going home” outfit. I know what I want and I can’t find it. May try tomorrow.
Anyway...that’s the news. :)

Well, I got sent to labor & delivery after my ob appointment...my blood pressure was 154/98 and I was +2 with protein in my urine. I stayed in labor & delivery for 4 hours being monitored. My blood pressure stayed in the 120/80’s range and the baby’s was 140-160, so we got sent home for the weekend on bed rest. Have to go back on Monday and we will go from there.

This is so similar to what happened with my first! But I think with the great BPP results and having a nice sized baby an early induction would not be an issue. My problem was also an abnormally tiny baby. My 34-weeker spent less time in the NICU than the 36-weaker. Preeclampsia sucks, no other way of putting it. But you’re so close to term with an average-sized healthy baby that the joy should outweigh the fear. Also my MFMs tended to be way more on the side of caution in terms of wanting to induce early than my OB (even though she has 33 years of experience). Focus on that going home outfit!!!
