Failed My 3 Hour Glucose Test... I Have Gestational Diabetes : (
By CaityMarie_ » Posted Oct. 16, 2015 12:05pm - 366 views - 5 comments

Just got the call this morning, what a way to start the day...
I'll be meeting with a dietitian in the next week or two and be given testing supplies & a new meal plan.
I guess I'll have to just figure this out :/

Well I have my appointment scheduled for the 26th. Then I can get my meal plan and testing kit. Until then I feel really lost on what to eat/not eat(besides avoiding sugar & carbs?).

Cattsmeow made a good point about eating enough. It's surprising how not eating regularly can mess with your blood sugar levels. It's always a pain in the butt to have to introduce a new routine like checking blood sugar but hopefully once you meet with a dietitian and come up with a plan, it won't be too bad.

I (apparently) failed mine too (see my last JE for details). It sucks but we do what we have to do. I've only been testing for a few days but so far my numbers have been good. I'm pretty bitter about it as well though so I understand your pain.

That's what I plan on doing differently , amongst other things. Walking more, and eating right.

I'm sorry. :( I have GD as well. It's really not as horrible as everyone thinks, you just have to be more diet conscious. It's mainly watching your carbs, making sure you are eating enough, and getting active. I find it helps lower my glucose level if I take a short 15 minute walk about an hour after eating and an hour before testing.
