OB Appointment

I was fortunate enough to be seen by my OB today even though I slept through my scheduled appointment. I explained that I haven't been sleeping well due to the spotting and tissue passage that I've had over the course of the past week, so they told me to come in anyway. I showed my OB the printout the ER gave me that mentioned baby's measurements and HCG. He did a pelvic exam immediately and found that my cervix is still closed.

Ultrasound looked good, too. Baby's doing great, plenty of amniotic fluid, and placenta's in the "ideal" position at the top of my uterus. I wonder if that has something to do with the bump I'm getting already? Even though I've been pregnant before, it's a surprise since I've never carried past 16 weeks, so my uterus hasn't really been stretched yet. There's definitely a hard, round area below my belly button, though. Also feels like I did too many sit-ups.

Anyway, no explanation for the spotting or tissue I've passed. Doc said no intercourse, no strenuous activity, etc., but he didn't put me on bedrest, so he must not think a miscarriage is imminent. I go back in two weeks for another ultrasound.

On a related note, I catch myself thinking of baby as "he" a lot. I'm trying not to read into it, but it's definitely swaying me toward finding out the gender if I make it to 20 weeks. :/
