Worst first midwife appt EVER.

So this is technically my 4th pregnancy. But we'll just say 3rd. With my 2 others I always saw OB. Never had a chance to see a midwife. This time I BEGGED to see the midwife, to get that 1 on 1 and more time and feel like a person. (which of course just could have been because my previous OB's were military docs and of course they never make you feel like a person, you're just an extension of your husband.) So maybe the OB's here will be ok, guess we'll see.

Anyways so she said with my history and having hypothyroid, gestational diabetes with the previous two, history of kidney stones... She just prefers that I see OB. :(

I just feel like at this point I should give up and have a repeat c-section... why try a vbac? I'm just going to be told like I was today that my BMI is too high and I only have a 60% chance of a successful one. Plus because my c-sections were at 2 very different hospitals 1 in FL 1 in turkey (I have the birth report for the first but not the second) supposedly if I want a vbac I have to prove that I only have a transverse cut (which I told her I do but she said she needs it in writing). So I have to contact someone over there and get them to send me those records. Why does it have to be this difficult?? :(

on another note she had to do a pelvic exam and she couldn't find my cervix.... the smaller speculum didn't work so she had to use the longer one and it just was NOT working and I was in so much pain I actually cried. I've never had someone not be able to do my pap... so now I have to do it AGAIN at my next appt. FUCK MY LIFE.

Then she couldn't find the heartbeat and had to pull out the ultrasound machine real quick, I got to see our little baby that totally looked like a gummy bear and it jumped, it was soooo cute!! They scheduled another ultrasound which is great because I really wanted another one since the 6 week one baby just looked like a blob. But I just didn't bring the records from my 6 week ultrasound to them just so I could get it. LOL. I know that's bad but since it was from a different office they can't get those records unless I release them and I just haven't yet. SO, I'm very excited to see my baby again. :) Then I had to do blood work for my thyroid and the lady goes "oh this looks like a good spot STICK. Oh wait... I guess it's not..lets wrap this arm and try the other one." So I left the office with a sore as hell vagina and a poke in each arm. >.<

My next appt is October 5th I think. I'll be 16 weeks. Hopefully they'll be able to find my cervix better... damn pap smears suck!

I have never heard of a midwife/OB not being able to find a cervix! My only guess is that the cervix is pulled up really high when pregnant early on and there could be a lot of swelling in the tissues of the vagina from all the extra blood flow. Even so...that is what the speculum is for. How frustrating. :( Hopefully the rest of your appointments go better. :)

You;d think this people could find a cervix. I've had a lot of problems with this type of thing too. I guess it's harder than one thinks?!

Sorry for all the chaos but at least you got to see you little one and will again in October!
