Peirce Wyatt Beck Richardson's Birth Story

As most of you know I was in "latent labour" since the wee hours of Tuesday, November 29. Contractions were intense (at the time I rated them a 5 or 6 out of 10, looking back they were more like a 4) and about 5 minutes apart. Went to hospital for a preplanned NST and they slowed down quite a lot. I was not dilated more than 2.5. My midwife believed the head to be tilted and it wasn't putting pressure on my cervix to dilate it, hence all the painful contractions were doing nothing but hurting and exhausting me.

Labour continued like that all day and into the evening. My midwife checked me again that evening and I had made no cervical progress so she met me at the hospital for a shot of morphine & gravol so I could get some rest. I slept about three hours and the contractions continued the entire next day, varying in timing etc. but still so panful and exhausting.

My about 5:30 they were getting more intense and my midwife came to check me. She checked me and I was only 3.5 cm but she was worried I wasn't going to progress and just get exhuasted so we decided to go to hospital and discuss induction.

Immediately after she checked me my water broke and things went very fast. I got insane contractions with urges to push so we rushed to the hospital. I went from 4-10 cm within 45 minutes.

I was soo happy when she said I could push - resisting the urge was terrible. I pushed for two hours and the nure said "one or two more pushes and you'll have your baby". I didn't believe her but she was bang on!! He came out soo fast !!!!

Unfortunately since he was totally posterior and stargazing he tore me very badly. I got stiched up by the OBGYN on staff asmy midwife didn't feel comfortable doing it.
He cried within seconds of coming out - my hubby cut the cord and within minutes he was in my amrs stariing up at me with wide, blinking eyes. Love at first sight.

I've heard they can turn babies like that but that its painful..but I guess its better than a c-section..I feel you on that subject...I got diagnosed with marginal previa 2 mnths ago & am facing the same decision..so dont want to be cut open so lets hope this placenta moves :) wish there was someway to make you feel better but I know you are just wanting this done & over with a healthy baby & a natural delivery. Hang in there!!

Time to add another picture to the collection :). Poor thing..I only went over by 6 days before I went into labor, but the doctors here wouldnt let me go over a wk...too much risk of infection...my son came out with jaundice from being overdue so you need to be induced...I know you want nature to take its course but sometimes you have to go a different direction.
