Averee Morgan Reynolds's Birth Story

I was going in for a scheduled induction on Sunday, 11/18. When I arrive at about 5:00pm I was already in early labor and hadn't even known it! When I was checked at around 8, I was 70% and 2cm and in a bunch of pain already. Mu hubby was such a wonderful support, so loving and tender even though I was miserable and mean! I labored for a while exruciating pain, mostly in my back, until I was given nubain, which did hardly anything for me. When I was checked again I had hit 5cm and at that point requested an epidural. The rest of the night was such a blur. I slept so well and didn't feel a thing once I had the epi in. When I woke up they checked me and I was 7cm. My water was still in tact and baby looked good. Then OB came to check me and decided to break my water since I had my bloody show. Water broke and they noticed baby had first BM. Once my water was broke, the baby's heart rate dropped drastically. They put me on my hands and knees to try and encourage her to enagage as she was still in -3 position. So they left me like that for a little while. They discussed the possibility of needing a c-section. I became slightly upset but they reminded me that it's only a possibility. When OB came back to check me, I had made no more progress and baby's head was beginning to swell. Her heart rate hadn't changed at all, only getting worse. At this point I did cry and felt so sad. I had been in labor for 17 hours and was purely exhausted. They wheeled me in to the OR quickly and my husband barely made it in before they started the surgery. He held my hand the entire time, and at 8:49am I heard the beautiful cry of my little angel. I was so relieved to finally have her to hold. It was not at all the birth experience I planned, but certainly not one I will forget.

Hey, just wanted to say hi and say that I'm also pregnant after a loss (a few losses actually). I also have a tilted uterus :) I was reading over your birth plan and saw that you wanted to keep it as natural as possible and I was wondering if you've considered looking for a doula? thats great for natural births, and also I'm not sure they have it everywhere but birthdancing is also great. they have classes where I'm at but I dont know how popular it is yet. I also was going to suggest a great book called "the natural pregnancy book" by Aviva Romm this is a great book and talks about all kinds of different pregnancy issues and alternative methods to common procedures. I hope your pregnancy goes well :)
