Kieran's Birth Story

Lost my plug around 7pm on Saturday evening, then nothing. I actually online to search for "mucus plug but no contractions". I found a whole host of answers with some saying they have lost it and only gone into labour after a week! I didn't want that to be me. Praying for the best, I had dinner and sat down to do one more journal. I watched some Telly and still nothing.

After two hours, some mild cramps started, I was worried I wasn't progressing so I didn't tell DH; just in case he forced me to go to the hospital sooner than I wanted. I decided to rest up instead. Awaken at 3am by a substantial cramp and thought to myself, "we are on!". I labored on my own for the next hour whilst trying to time my contractions, it wasn't easy (isn't there am app out there?) the contractions were now coming every 5-7 min but were only lasting about 30-45sec. So I thought they were not yet that intense. I took a shower around 5am tried to eat something but..... I threw up before I had even finished thinking of what I could eat. So I Started off for the hospital about 6am. I experienced a pressure pain right below, it was like I wanted to pee but couldn't. The ride to the hospital was the longest ever! I told DH I was dying (lol), My waters broke in the car and I realized I felt better when I tried to force myself to pee. In hindsight, it was nature taking over, I had started pushing the baby without realizing it!

Got to the hospital and poor DH jumped out of the car calling for help. The midwife came to the car and found I had pushed the baby's head out, she completed the delivery and rushed inside with the baby and I was assisted with the placenta right there in the car.

It was dramatic but we are both fine. We are now home and acquainting ourselves with breast feeding.

To healthy and Safe deliveries!

The peeing/pressure pain was worse than with my first one! I actually thought I preferred the first labor; Lol, like there is anything to prefer about it......
