Friday May 17, 2013 I had a routine doctor appointment. Dr. McNeely did my strep B test and asked if I would like to have my cervix checked. I told him sure because I was curious about what was happening. As it turns out I was dilated at the bottom of my cervix at a 2 but closed at the top and 0% effaced. at 36 weeks I thought okay that sounds normal. What was troubling was that he couldn't feel the baby's head so he ordered an ultrasound to check on positioning. Today Wednesday May 22, 2013 I had the ultrasound. The good news is that she IS head down and my fluid levels look good as well as her heart rate and umbilical cord sounds. the bad news is that at 2 days shy of 37 weeks she weighs 5 lbs and 6 oz. which is in the 12 percentile. 10 percentile is the cutoff. Her small belly and weight indicates a problem with her placenta and today my primary OB, Dr. Osterholt, informed me that tomorrow I will be having a Non-stress Test and Friday I will keep my appointment as scheduled then next Tuesday May 28, 2013 I will have another ultrasound and a follow up with Dr. McNeely. They will check my cervix again and address the ultrasound results and likely shedule 1 more appointment for monitor and then schedule an induction for between 38 and 39 weeks. I am just scared to death for the health of my baby girl.
