Er Trip

Well, just got home from the er about an 30 minutes ago. Out of nowhere I got this severe pain in my ribs. It hurt to breathe in deeply and stretch. I have never been in so much pain. Sean actually asked me if I wanted to go to the er because that's how bad I was bawling in pain.
Immediately when we got there they called the OB nurse down and they had me change into a gown before hooking me up to the baby monitor. Then they used the Doppler to check her heart beat (it was perfect and no contractions). Then they hooked me up to an EKG machine and monitored my heart (which also came back perfect) and took some blood. They tested my blood for maybe a blood clot in the lungs and other potential issues. Everything came back perfect.
They said that they think it is gall stones. They gave me some Tylenol and hoped that that would help the pain, but it didn't so then they gave me a Hydro. The pain didn't get worse, but it didn't get better either. I still couldn't move or breathe deeply. So they decided to let the Hydro try to work a little longer and depending on what I wanted they were gonna admit me and keep me over night to give me pain meds through my IV.
We all (Sean, my doctors [both OB and the hospital] and I) decided that I'd be more comfortable at home in my bed and that they didn't want to expose me to all the people who had the flu who were admitted.
I go back tomorrow to get an ultrasound of my belly and still am in so much pain. While I hope that we find out what is causing me pain, I'm terrified that it's gallstones and that they'll want to removed my gallbladder. I read that most times that's what they do because they're usually recurring, especially in pregnant women. My most major surgery was my wisdom teeth, and I took care of my friend when she had her gallbladder removed and I'm just terrified.
And as of right now I'm taking hydros every 4-6 hours for the pain, and that's also exposing my daughter to that. The doctors said it won't hinder her development as long as I take it like they said, but it does cross the placenta. I feel like such a horrible mother because I'm doping my daughter, but at the same time I can't handle this pain. I think the highest my pain has ever been (excluding labor) on a scale of 1-10 was a 7 and that's with chronic back pain that I had to be medicated for. This was a 10. I have never been in so much pain.
But Nathan was great. He spent the 4 hours there like a pro. Of course he was a bit wound up and wanting to jump around, but for the most part he did great. Kept entertaining the nurses. The one nurse I had just adored him; got him coloring stuff and dinosaur stickers. He wowed her with all his dinosaur knowledge. And then when Sean left to warm up the car and left Nate with me, she got him all ready to go while I signed my papers without me even having to ask.
And he's just been wanting to help Mommy so much. He kept saying, "Mommy don't cry." and "I'll help you." He helped the nurse (the one who he kept entertaining) get me to the car and then when we got home he helped me to the bathroom and then to the living room. I'm so blessed to have such an adorable little man. <3

Well I had my ultrasound today and they looked at everything and everything looked great. They think it was a horrible case of acid reflex so they are having me take prescription antacids and see if that helps.

That sounds horrible! Gall bladder surgery these days at least is usually done laproscopically so it isn't as invasive as it once was...Did they also rule out appendicitis?

I feel for you I had gallstones after I had my daughter and its the most horrible pain I've ever been in. I lived with it for 6 months before I had it removed. If you watch your diet you can control it a little. I wouldn't wait to have it removed like I did. I got really sick and spent over a week in the hospital. I had a stone get caught in the common bile duct and my liver quit working right.
