Second Ultrasound!
By kimburski » Posted Feb. 17, 2013 11:38am - 402 views - 0 comments

I've been so busy, this is the first chance I had to write about my second ultrasound that happened on Thursday. Dr. Lee wanted me to come back a week after the first ultrasound just to ensure that the second empty sac was getting smaller and you of course were getting bigger. All checked out and you are now 2.2 cm, right on track for 9 weeks! It was so wonderful to see you again, your sac has grown bigger too and I'm noticing that in my bigger belly when I look in the mirror! Your heart rate was still nice and strong and everything looked great. the doctor wanted me to take some extra Vitamin D, just because my levels were slightly lower than ideal. She also took some of Daddy's blood so we can find out your blood type. We will probably know early next week. I really hope that some way some how he is a Rh - but even if he isn't Dr. Lee and Aunt Minako put my mind at ease that if I get the rhogram shot at any sign of bleeding or at 27 weeks (whichever comes first) and I get one after the birth that everything will be fine and there will be no complications with you or any future babies. Such a relief but let's face it, one less needle would be nice if possible. She also mentioned that my thyroid looked a bit sluggish. Nothing that was even prominent enough to affect my hormone levels which all looked normal but since some research has show that the thyroid is linked to brain development in a fetus she wants me to see Dr. Tseng, an endocrinologist just to make sure nothing needs to be done. I feel like I'm constantly at the Dr. these days! We also got to see how much it's going to cost (With PPO health insurance covering 80%) for just Dr. Lee's office visits and her fee to deliver $2100! This doesn't cover the ultrasounds, lab tests, hospital fees or any other Dr. visits! Wow, "the business of being born" huh? Regardless, you are so very worth it! It's just amazing to see what it costs, even with the best insurance! I can't imagine what women with no insurance or less insurance go through. Well, I see Dr. Lee again in 2 weeks. She said I could go back to light yoga but still no dance or fun times with Daddy! :( I guess this is still because of the empty sac absorbing and Dr. Lee just being the overly cautious dr that she is. Till next time!
