Stubborn!

I tried to find baby's hb this morning with my doppler. Unfortunately, I only heard the swooshing of the placenta and baby is playing hide and seek. Tried a couple of times this morning but since I don't have time or patience today I gave up. I still feel my tingling and pinching in my boobs and armpit and have felt the little guy a couple of times, he just won't come out of hiding. I found him last night right away and his hb was strong at 156 bpm. I'm sure the angle I'm sitting isn't helping.

Just remember ladies if you get this doppler, try not to get scared if you can't find the hb right away... it may take some time to find the right angle to get the galloping of the heart. I just am short with time and patience today.

I wouldn't worry. :) Just think about how small the heart is right now, if the Doppler isn't exactly on the right spot and at the right angle you won't hear it, and baby is moving all around so all they have to do is move a tiny bit and the heart is no longer in the correct path for the wand to pick up.

I got lucky in that my baby liked to hang out in the same place almost all the time so I learned where I needed to put the wand. But even at my appointment this week (I was 31 weeks to the day when I went), the OB took 20-30 seconds to find the heart beat. It was because baby was hanging out where he/she normally does way down low and on the right side and the OB was up near my belly button for awhile and was only picking up my placenta (I have an anterior placenta). lol

Don't get discouraged! It really is the best thing to be able to hear the heart beat, the more you do it, the easier it gets. It got me through the early weeks when I was bleeding almost every day. :)

Thank you MalPal! Needed some reassurance even though I was trying to seem calm about it. My only saving grace is that I feel him bumping around.

I had this problem too. Find it one minute and not the next. I am also impatient so I gave up pretty quick and hated the damn thing in the beginning. Now though, at 21 weeks, I can find it almost immediately and even have to turn the volume down otherwise it sounds he's going to bust right out of the speaker so, as I'm sure you know, it gets MUCH easier!
