IPS - Results
By chehowca » Posted Feb. 3, 2014 1:25pm - 252 views - 4 comments

I went to my doctor today and got the results for my IPS testing. My normal risk for trisomies, given my age, is 1:90. My adjusted risk, given the results of testing is 1:460!!! Super awesome results; our chances were reduced by about 5-fold. I have my anatomy scan coming up mid-February and hopefully there are no markers for anything there. But let's face it, I have a 0.22% chance of a child with trisomy. I am confident that we will not be going forward with an amnio.

I also told my doctor about my experience at Mount Sinai. She was absolutely gobsmacked. She will be writing a letter and encouraged me to write a letter. I hope they take it as continuous improvement and change their practices, but I'm doubtful.

Got to hear baby's hearbeat. Tried to bribe the nurse to let me take the doppler home with me, but to no avail. I also only gained 0.6 lb over 4 weeks. I'm not dieting, but eating healthy and making better choices for me and my fetus. I'm on track for my 10 - 15 lb weight gain over the pregnancy.

I hope not! I will have to see if they can fit me in on the same day as I was supposed to go to the other place. I mean it sucks for me to have my results delayed, but this other place apparently was delaying the results for legitimately life-threatening conditions such as breast cancer. Uncool.

Im so jealous!! Mine's March 7th, I'll be 20+6 and probably completely insane by then. My OB always books scans at the hospital, he doesnt like the other places that do it, the hospital has better equipment and techs, apparently. So if u book at the hospital, will u have to wait longer?

Thanks dakotagurrl! My scan is on Feb 18 (19.5 weeks). I might have to schedule the U/S at the hospital b/c my doc told me the location where my appointment is has been notoriously bad at getting results back in any sort of time.
