Physical Therapy Appointment
By stephc2010 » Posted Jan. 27, 2016 6:45pm - 347 views - 4 comments

My first physical therapy appointment was today. It went well! Turns out my pelvis was misaligned and it was contributing to most of my pain. I learned "exercises" to help me correct it that I have to do a few times a day or whenever it's bothering me. I also have to work on strengthening my pelvic floor muscles and have to do those exercises twice a day. It consists of me on all fours, and I have to tighten my abdominal muscles while tightening my pelvic floor muscles and hold it for 10 seconds, I do that 10 times. Nothing too bad. She also told me I need to keep my knees pressed together when I get in and out of bed, since opening my legs and swinging them over can cause the misalignment again. The office wants to see me once a week, which I think is a bit much, but they said we'd do something different every week. They also offer prenatal massages $55 for one hour, so not bad at all. I'll definitely be getting a massage or two before this pregnancy is over!

Thank you! Definitely plan on getting at least 2 or 3 massages before my due date! :) I didn't get any during my first pregnancy, even though my husband said it would be okay. I was trying to save money, lol.

I'd be getting a massage weekly ;) glad you have a way to deal with the pain and not having to be uncomfortable the next 10ish weeks :)

Thank you! They originally wanted to see me twice a week, but they're an hour away from me, so we agreed on twice a week. My insurance covers it, so it should be okay! :)

Good to hear you've got a plan for the pain now!

Once a week may be pricey, but it's actually to be expected with weekly treatments in the beginning. It's to keep things from returning to where they were before you started treatment :)

Good luck with everything. I hope you can stave off the pain with the exercises!
