Sick and no Insurance, really?
By brandypandywittmer » Posted Sep. 10, 2014 1:59pm - 306 views - 1 comment

So iv been deadly sick, with a virus so bad that I was put on bed rest by a ER doctor. My doctor wont see me yet, why, bc my husband works as a firefighter for a crappy city and they keep changing our insurance, and guess what we found out at our 6 week first app, that said insurance was no longer covering maternity (yeah they city can do that with little fine print) I about died, never in a million!

So they say, apply for medicaid, ok.
So I go do that, at 6 weeks and I meet with a guy who takes all my info that im supposed to bring and he tells me Ill be approved just based on the fact that I cant even get maternity (i was in and out in 15mins) . So I wait (I work to mind you) and I wait and at 30 days I call and they tell me, in a low, boring voice that they need my husbands tax documents ????? what??? Why didn't you call, why did it take me calling 3 times for you guys to tell me this? So I get my tax guy to fax it 3TIMES! they said they never got it....SO what did I do, I took it down there and PUT IT IN HER hands, no one else. So at 45 days I call again, nope not approved and they are now OVER their limit so I call the HOT line and speak to a lady who tells me she will personally talk to the supervisors bc MS has a 35 days limit on this. So I get a call at day 50, they say its approved but they are waiting for it to be signed on so im sitting here at day 55 and still nothing.....Iv been to the ER 3 times, been sick almost my whole pregnancy and these people are just like 'whatever' and I really thinking its bc, I didn't show up jobless, broke and looking like Ill just roll out of bed (im not being rude but thats how every other woman in there looked I'm not kidding) You dont have to be black, broke, jobless, white trash and look like crap to be on Medicaid, trust me I wish I weren't on it!.....Is everyone in this office just LAZY? So its day 60 and I am felling like hell and I cant even go to the doctor BECAUSE OF LAZY PEOPLE.

I really worry about the health of this baby, I am so damn tired.

I'm so sorry that you are so sick. This is the last thing anyone wants to deal with when you are feeling pretty aweful. Sounds like NJ Medicaid. I'm not on it but I once applied for it when I was on unemployment a few years back with my son. It was just me and him and I was denied because I made $20 above the threshold collecting unemployment however they did approve my son which I was very thankful for. It's a sin that the system takes so long in the process but think you are right that they are just lazy. I hope you get your packet soon. And feel better... I can't imagine.
