My Journal

ONE WEEK OR THREE WEEKS (either way, she can't stay in there forever)

This morning (technically yesterday morning, cuz it's after midnight) I woke up when my DH got ready to go to his Saturday morning exercise group at 6am. He reminded me that I had time to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, Cam woke up at 6:30. Boo! And you know what? After a couple hours of hanging out with him, I got really sleepy and went back to bed. Bad parenting move, or really good pregnant lady move? Anyway, I was pretty proud of myself for actually feeling sleepy and going to sleep. I've been battling with crazy insomnia/weird food aversion for awhile now. Friday night I didn't really want dinner. DH went out for a hamburger and stopped by a yogurt shop for me. He even sampled flavors on phone for me. Sooooooo freakin' sweet! I ate frozen yogurt with fresh berries for Friday night dinner. We stayed up watching YouTube Key & Peele clips. Today I was planning on going to a party for my friend who got her Ph.D. and is moving out of state. However, DH really wanted to do his workout group. Also, I really didn't feel like driving a couple hours each way to the town where the party was. I stayed home. I put on a size large fluorescent yellow tee. I napped. I watched Netflix. I moved a heavy CRT (that used to be DH's grandma's, which we haven't used for like 3 years) and two chairs from college out to my car to donate it. I will admit that I wet myself picking it up. Ewww, I wish I didn't have to deal with things like that. I didn't have leaking during my last pregnancy. It all started post-partum. I pretty much had it under control after Cam was a year or two old. Then, pregnancy happened again, and, BAM, can't keep my underwear dry if I cough, sneeze hard, laugh, run, pick up heavy stuff, jump... Gosh, I love being a woman. Cam did some pretty cute stuff today. He cuddled me during the end of my nap, climbing on my chest like he was still tiny. He ran all the way across a field into DH's arms at the park, when DH arrived after he'd been gone all day. He fell asleep in both our cars during our short car rides (first when I dropped off the donations and second on our way to dinner). I ate my whole meal at Cheesecake Factory. I think I was making up for only having yogurt the night before. I had like two contractions during lunch on Friday. I felt lots of pelvic pressure after picking up the TV and running a bit in the park. However, all you ladies with your delivery predictions somewhere in the 38 week range were wrong. Sad. She's not done cooking. I didn't really think she would come this early. I just hoped there would be some early labor or something to show me she was on her way before 40 weeks. So far not much to go on. Yes, I have the pressure of baby and occasional cervical twinges of pain. I'm afraid to ask for an internal exam. The midwife I questioned about that basically told me there was no point unless I was in labor. DH and I DTD tonight. I've been kind of asking for it a lot. Only, the heat, belly, and Cam have prevented us from finishing, even if we do start. Tonight was better. It's been overcast for two days. Thank you, GOD! I'm not dying of heat, but I'm still not sleeping well. I've read that oxytocin from sex can help stimulate labor. I've also read that there is NOTHING you can at home that will induce labor, and the only sure way to start it is to wait or take proffered drugs (like Pitocin or misoprostol) and/or procedures (like the membrane sweeps and the Foley catheter, both of which didn't work for me). Why am I so impatient? Why don't I just enjoy my baby-free sleepy time? I'm tired of answering the question, "When is your due date?" They seem to follow that with, "Of this month?" Yeah, genius. Otherwise I would have said a month and not just "the 19th," as an answer. It's kind of annoying at this point. I want to tell everyone who asks, that the date doesn't matter, really.

I hear you. My dr has also not been doing cervical checks. She said unless you are having regular contractions, you probably aren't dilating and even if you are, so what? You can be at 3cm for weeks and not go into labor! Plus, it seems that this is common based on the July forum! I have also been asking my husband to do the deed but I think he is nervous. I guess I don't really blame him. Plus, it is a whole big production! lol Best of luck, I am impatient as ever too but when the timing is right, it will all turn out awesome.

Haha- I keep hearing that too. "Of this month?!" with a shocked look on their face. I'm like "no, July of next year. I'm just really fat and good at predicting the future."

Prayers for you that Emma is ready to come soon so you can relax and hold her in your arms. :)

Sex will help if your cervix is favorable, but like you said, baby will come when she's ready. I'm sure it won't feel soon enough though =)
