We've been through so much these past several days, and it's only been a bit over a week. Super fast labor and delivery, NICU stay, 2 pediatrician appointments, Children's hospital ER visit, hearing test, various phone conversations with medical professionals, scheduling, potty training, visiting family members, and of course, exhaustion. Today, I'm pretty sure, is the first day I didn't cry. Emotional is an understatement to describe how DH and I have been feeling. Emma, I'm proud to say, is up 6 oz from her birth weight. My milk production has been very high. (I'm finally not feeling engorged.) Also, the scheduled feedings to make sure she never goes long without food, due to her MCADD, helped her to put on that weight. Despite her medical issues, she has been similar to Cameron. They're pretty much the same size and growth rate so far. Also, she's been very calm through it all. Honestly, Emma is easy, Cam is kind of difficult, and I'm feeling recovered enough act as Mom and housekeeper again. Going out as a family of 4 takes some juggling. I fear next week without DH by my side. He is a great encourager and comforter. And he gives me time to rest while he watches one of the kids. Despite that, I look forward to taking charge of my household with less supervision. He and I have had quite the ups and downs already. He is a great father, but he places chores low on his priorities, loses his temper easily with Cam and me, and passes out when he's tired, leaving me on my own at some less than ideal times. Okay, just being real, not wanting to be too much of a downer. I love my beautiful family. We are complete now. We go to see the genetic specialist on Thursday. We will be stronger through each challenge and make sure Emma continues to thrive.
