20 weeks 2 days-we finally know baby's gender!

Yesterday, March 4th was a day to remember for us, a big milestone-we found out and announced baby's gender to family and friends! We started our day with four daycare tours-uffda that ended up to be quite a lot for one day. These were all daycare centers but each one with it's own unique characteristics. There are two we really liked, one was ok and the last was taken off the table entirely. The big considerations are; if we want to have our baby go to a christian daycare and the cost between the two daycares is quite large so not sure how we will reconcile those choices yet but we have a little time before we will know if there are for sure openings at each of the two places we liked the most. Next we will look into home daycares.
Then in the afternoon we anticipated the joy of finding out baby's gender during the rather long fetal anatomy ultrasound. We kept saying to ourselves, what all can they look at for 45-60 minutes? Turns out there is a lot to look at and it becomes even more difficult when you have an active little one :) During the fetal anatomy US we were able to see baby's heart beat (145 bpm), baby's actual heart with 4 chambers and the artery and vein leading out of the heart, baby's kidneys, stomach, the bones in the arms and legs, baby's lips, nose, brain, spinal cord, placenta and the umbilical cord. Last but not least we were able to clearly see that baby is a GIRL!!!!! We were surprised, a little in disbelief but very happy.
Everything looked very normal, the only slight abnormality is that the placenta is Low lying, meaning it is a bit closer to the cervix than they would like, the OB expected this would resolve by 28 weeks and if not I will have to have a scheduled C-section which wouldn't be my first choice but I would certainly go that route if that was what was needed for baby's health and my health. We will go in for our next ultrasound at 28 weeks to see where the placenta is, it can only get better, not worse so that is positive.
Until next time,
Wendy
