Well the last two months have actually slipped by quite quickly, I'm pleased. Having reached the thirty week mark, I realize that time is rapidly running out so, once I can get Christmas out of the way and cleaned up, my main focus will become organizing and decorating the space intended for Caroline. I think, with a lull between holidays, we should be able to make a major dent, especially since she'll be here before we know it. My sister-in-law has actually been the one to step up and say she wants to host my baby shower. I'm excited (because she has the funds to make it really nice) but also apprehensive because she's definitely the water to my tequila, the milk to my coffee, the neutral to my glitter. I'm sure it will be lovely and I'm always down for presents and finger foods. Hah!

On a similar but less pleasant note, my brother's home wrecking wife had her baby by cesarean today. They're both fine, I guess, and my prediction of malformation from drug use and lack of prenatal care was wrong. My parents are thrilled but I'm pretty indifferent. Sebastian's fifth birthday is tomorrow and now they're always going to be torn between two grandkids' parties and I can guarantee my son won't win them all, simply because the mother scheduled it like that because "she just wants so badly to be like you" (meaning like me... yes, this was actually said). Whatever, it will always just be about my boy because I can totally not get attached if I don't want to (yes, I am a steel magnolia but I try to use it responsibly).

But this time five years ago, my husband has just made it to the hospital where I had been laboring for nearly 36 hours and still had five more before Sebastian would finally enter the world, changing it for us forever. To celebrate, tomorrow I'm going to get him up fairly early, take him to breakfast and then to Chuck E. Cheese. We'll have dinner as a family with cake and gifts, since we already celebrated with the crowd. DeWayne has to work tonight so he'll only see him at dinner before going back to work tomorrow night. Luckily, he's off Christmas Eve by request. He usually has to work so I have my hands full setting up for Santa but we can split duties this year. Yay! We didn't go crazy on gifts this year because we want to rediscover what it's really about. Plus, he asked for things like a new big boy tablet and one of those Zoomer Dinos so they used up more of the budget. Everyone is also so excited about the baby coming soon that gifts don't seem to be able to compare, which is a total blessing.

Okay, I'm going to end with a funny/gross pregnancy story that happened today. My son and I had Krystal burgers for lunch (they're like White Castle burgers, for all my Yankee friends) while we finished Christmas shopping and we are still fighting the coughs left behind by the sinus drainage last week. Well, a few hours ago, he got to coughing so hard that, not for the first time, he made himself throw up. He did it three times on the kitchen floor. It was mostly water since I'd been having him drink to keep his throat from getting raw and I haven't done more than gag all pregnancy so I didn't hesitate in going to try to help my husband clean up the mess. That was my first mistake, I suppose. I caught a whiff of the vomit, even though it was mostly clear, and covered my nose with my shirt. That was mistake number two... I began throwing up profusely- into my shirt! I leaned forward so it wouldn't go everywhere but my poor husband is losing his mind. Haha! Finally, once it stopped, he washed my face and then had to help me get out of my shirt without getting puke in my hair but it was all over my bra and down my jeans. It was awful and hilarious all at once! DeWayne wasn't nearly as amused as I was but, since there was no nausea or anything, it was struck me as funny. First time I've thrown up all pregnancy... had to be Krystal's... classic.

Lala, it was a girl. My family isn't known for having girls so she stole Caroline's thunder, that was the other issue. But my babies are cuter. ;-)

First off OMG. I almost threw up reading that last part. Your hubby is a champ! I would have thrown up too! I hope your son has an AMAZING birthday tomorrow. We are finally in the home stretch here. Woohoo!

Amanda what did she end up having? I know that was the other half of her having it so close to Sebatian's birthday. I'm going to guess boy.

I hope your son has a wonderful birthday! I do agree with pbc, it is a shame that your son is going to have another kid stealing the attention from him around his birthday, but you and your husband are great parents and will definitely make sure his birthday is always special! These last 10 weeks or so are going to fly by so quickly for you! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! :)

I can't even imagine how "fun" it was to throw up Krystal's! Here it's White Castle and yeah, they have reputation for giving you horrible gas or being a great drunk, 3am kind of food. It's a shame your son is going to have another kid stealing his attention - of course it would be one thing if the circumstances were a bit different. But he has you and his dad to shower him with all the attention he'll need. I hope he has a great birthday and that you all have fun! These last months are going to fly by I bet! Except it seems the pattern that it does until the very last couple of weeks. Either way, welcome to 30 weeks!
