20 week scan and all fine :-)
On Friday we went for our "big" scan and everything looked fine. We are so happy and relieved. We then asked the technician to write the gender of the baby in the envelope and we opened it with my son and my husband's parents later on after having a takeaway together. It was such a good family feeling :-). And the baby is a boy! So my 6yo is having a little brother. His wish came true :-). Great day...

Felt My Baby Move for the First Time
Last night I was sitting and watching TV with my hubby and I felt the baby to move properly for the first time! Today I keep having the same sensations now and again. So it must be the baby wriggling about. It feels like a gold fish is in my lower tummy! I love it!

16 week check up
The midwife was listening to baby's heartbeat today. She couldn't find it at first on my left side... But I was listening to my baby's heartbeat just a day before with my own doppler and knew it was there. I told her to move it on my right side and there it was. Nice and strong heartbeat! Didn't get to see my baby today. Can't wait for 20 week scan now - date set for 21/10. I will be almost 21 weeks then.

NT scan
I knew the baby was fine, but that didn't stop us from worrying. Luckily everything turned out to be perfect! The results of the NT scan for Downs syndrome showed a chance 1:18000, which I was very pleased about. We saw a little nasal bone too and baby was moving and wriggling about. Amazing...

First Ultrasound
So, we had our first scan! We have been ever so nervous about it, but the sonographer was very good and understanding, as we suffered a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks (7 months ago). But straight away after putting the probe on my belly, he said: "It's ok I can see the baby and the heart beat, you are ok!"... What a relief! We saw the baby and it is one day ahead at 7 weeks 5 days and the heart beat shows 135 bpm, which is just right for this stage. Please, Mother Nature, let this baby to grow into a healthy and happy one... It's just so magical to see the blobby and listen to the heart beat. It made it so real!

I have had my 12 wk scan today! Everything is fine so far - yay!!! We are so happy! We even saw our baby to move around and move his/her tiny little arms and legs. At one point the baby just back flipped over and turned the other way! Amazing, little tiny person...and we love him/her soooo much already.

Ohh, and by the way! Yes, my bump poking out! That photo was taking around 7 in the morning. I had initially taken it for my brother. I'm in the US on the east coast, and my brother lives on the west coast and has been wanting regular updates. After I took it, I was immediately surprised at how much I was poking out. I mean, I see myself in the mirror daily but I guess I haven't paid quite that much attention. :)

Hi dear! Soooo great that things seem good and that you aren't having to deal with the morning sickness and such. My best friend was lucky like you and only had 3 days of nausea. Did you buy one of those dopplers you can listen at home or was this at the doctors office? Either way, that is fantastic. My next appointment is August 22 and we'll finally get a chance to listen as well. I'm 12 weeks now its hard to believe!
Today my best friend and her 18 month old son went maternity shopping for me. It was exciting but nerve-racking at the same time. have you shopped yet? My husbands cousin gave me 3 boxes of clothes too but most of it is too big for me quite yet so I'm excited that I have a head start for later on.

hi! To answer your question, I'm in the US and it really just depends on the insurance you have here. Since we have private insurance generally through our employer or purchase it completely separately it just depends on what level you have coverage on.
My scan was yesterday, I posted a photo on my photo section of our little bean growing. My husband was smiling so big when the tech showed us the heartbeat and everything. It was a really neat experience. I'm on a hunt for a mini frame so I can take one of the prints to my office and show it off. :) Yours is tomorrow right? Can't wait to hear about it! :)
