Q: How long should it take for HCG to drop after a loss?

I had surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy last Friday. I did a HPT this morning expecting it to be faint, but it's still pretty dark.

How long should I expect to be seeing positive tests for? The hospital didn't tell me what my HCG level was at the time of the surgery.

I see my Dr. at the end of this month, so if the tests are still dark, I will for sure be asking for blood work again. Thanks for your help.

Let put it this way it took 4 weeks to get that high so if after 4 weeks you still get a positive I would ask a doc to help you start monitoring.

Thanks Red. I'm a little frustrated because I asked them several times what the HCG level was, and no one would or could tell me. If it was super high then I'd know I'm in for a long wait. If it was the level of my trigger, I would have expected it to come down some by now.

Guess I just have to have some patience. Sigh.

It can take weeks. Test like once a week and it should start fading soon. It will take time. I am sorry.
