Q: My first pregnancy please help. I'm not sure what to expect and what not too..

Hi ladies! I ovulated around Feb 16-17... I became very sick with a high fever Feb 22. Went to family doctor Feb 23. They diagnosed me with a upper respritory virus and sent me for blood test. I started pregnancy testing Feb 20 it was negative the morning off 24. When I came home that afternoon I tried the test again not even 5seconds did I wait a strong positive showed up. Blood test came back positive. Hcg levels where 720. Had my first ultrasound march 7 we saw the g/s and y/k. I have a tilted uterus so I'm already showing. I was originally told I was 7wks 1day but due to the us they pushed me back a week. So now I'm 6wks 1day. Does this ultrasound confirm only one baby? Is it still possible for multiples? I have had no symptoms at all besides occasional cramping being thirsty and waking up early for no reason. Is this all normal? Is it too early for symptoms? Is it true that being pregnant with a girl causes symptoms and boys are a breeze? I'm not sure what to expect...

Good luck at your next appt and u/s!! yeah .. your uterus can be tilted frontward not just towards that back.. which sounds like what you have going on. I wish I had a baby bump. lol. I probably wont have one until about 18 weeks. Everything is going to be ok. Take a deep breath!..though since this is my first as well I tend to worry ABOUT EVERYTHING. lol.

Thank you ladies! So glad we aren't alone in this! I have another ultrasound march 26. Hopefully I'll have my answer then. I only saw a g/s and y/k at 20dpo but since I was so early she stopped the us early and scheduled one at 8wks 2days. Hoping to hear a heartbeat or two! My dh will be there he wouldn't miss it for the world. I haven't had my hcg levels checked since that Monday Feb 27 so not sure if they doubled or tripled for me. The nurse didn't seem concerned they just thought I was further along then the us showed making me a little concerned. Its strange to show at 6wks when you can't officially say its the baby showing. My fam thinks its because I eat too much which isn't the case at all. I mean I swim walk and do Pilates so I'm just not letting them get to me since my ob already explained my firm belly to me! How early can the gender be determined?

finding a second gestational sac. He assumed that this was the small "hemmorhage" that the ER docs had diagnosed me with. He said the second sac however appeared empty but because of the tilted uterus deal it could be too early to see anything or it could be hiding in there. So I waited a week and went back in again 7 weeks 3 days .. at that u/s still empty sac so was diagnosed with a vanishing twin at that time. So twins could be possible and its early but I am thinking the docs would have mentioned something to you... OR.. some women can have high HCG. Which can be good and bad. One of our moms to be in the sept club has high hcg levels so they are monitoring her baby well because with high hcg her lil one is having a hard time getting all the nutrients it needs. So.. it could just be that as well. Hang in there.. this pregnancy for me has been full of a lot of anxiety here and there. Being here has helped however! :)

You must have a tilted uterus towards your stomach and not your back, my uterus is tilted towards my back, I am 13 weeks and still not showing. This too is my first pregnancy and I also found via u/s that I had two gestational sacs. I started getting symptoms of really bad nausea early at about 4 weeks 3 days. At 4 weeks 6 days I went to the ER for dehydration and painful cramping. At that time they did an u/s and found one sac with a yolk sac and a possible subchorionic hemorrhage so they told me to go back to the ob/gyn triage the next morning. At that time I had my hcg tested and it was 4800. I was pretty shocked with how high it was. The next day I went to the ob/gyn triage got another u/s where that doctor told me no hemorrhage but to come back in a week. 1 weeks later at 6 weeks 3 days I came back for another u/s on that u/s we found a baby measuring correctly with a heartbeat.. then the doctor moved the wand over to the left

Actually ladies, it's more common for twins to be detected at 6 week scans then at 20DPO like she said she was at her first scan. And even then, twins can still be missed at the 6 week scan, not being found until later then that.

If you could clarify how many DPO you were, when you had your blood drawn, and got the 720, that would be helpful. Median level for a singleton pregnancy at 12dpo is 55. Median level for a Multiple pregnancy at 12dpo is 118. What DPO were you, when you got the 720?

I had barely any symptoms during my 1st trimester (but I did have a bad sinus infection that took me awhile to get over). No morning sickness at all and my breasts didn't start hurting until 2nd trimester. Now I have this wonderful carpal tunnel problem that is driving me CRAZY! lol

I think they would have mentioned if they saw two g/s, so you are probably not having twins (but you can ask at your next appointment). My due date was adjusted by 11 days after my 7 week u/s (but I knew if would because I didn't ovulate until cycle day 26, but they weren't just going to take my word for it! lol). I wouldn't worry about them changing your due date, it happens quite frequently. Congratulations:-)

I was horribly ill for the first trimester and I am having a girl. My mom was horribly ill with my brothers though. If there was one sac then you are most likely having one. Some women get hit hard with symptoms others barely get any. Every pregnancy is different. You could have nothing with this one and get nailed with symptoms on your next one. Basically just eat, sleep and drink regularily. I didn't think about how much I ate and stuff like that. Only eat when I am hungry until I am full. Only drink fluids when I am thirsty until the thirst is quenched. I have been told my baby is big so she is obviously getting enough. Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

My early ultrasound pushed my dates back a week (its hard to be accurate when baby is sooo tiny) but when i went for my 12 week dating scan it was pushed forward again and matched my dates.
I had symptoms from Day 1, nausea, vomiting.... and I'm having a boy and in no way has it been a breeze!! lol !!! Everyone is affected by pregnancy differently.

I think if there were two babies they would have been picked up at your first scan, but they will have a double check and confirm number of babies at your scheduled 12 week scan.
