She's right about you not being 6 months yet since you are only 24 weeks. Being your first pregnancy, it's not unheard of to be 24 weeks without having felt the baby yet. At your doctor's appointments, have they used the doppler to hear the heartbeat? You should ask your doctor about the anatomy scan ultrasound, most doctor's will order it between 18 and 22 weeks to make sure the baby is developing properly.

I believe she asked a question about getting an ultrasound due to being past 20 weeks and not feeling the baby move...stop being catty!!!

I think you definitively need to go to an e.r. if your regular docs wont do an ultrasound..they will do one at the e.r. It is very odd for your clinic..rural or not..to wait that long..and NOT recommended. Go to the e.r. one day soon and get some clarification! The need to do measurements as well. I would be figuring out who to contact to complain about this negligence toward you and your baby. Good Luck Sweets!

Your doctor should have got you in for an ultrasound by now. Its something doctors worry about if you dont feel your baby . You should have felt the baby between 3-4 months

Ok I'm not sure what the last 2 ladies were saying because 24 weeks is the six month mark. At 28 weeks is the halfway point to 7 months. I've been pregnant a few times, so I definitely know my dates.
I know that when my mom was pregnant with me she said she rarely felt me move, and just didnt think anything of it because she just didnt know anything about it. But I'd say that I would definitely push the doctor to listen to a heart beat or get an ultrasound. It is your right. I know that I'd be pretty worried myself. I actually just recently ordered myself a fetal doppler off of ebay because I get scared pretty easy with my current pregnancy. I hope it all goes well for you, and the thing is that there's always options. Most the time I think we feel like we don't have any just because we dont know what they are. Its always good to explore what options you may have. If your close to a bigger city, usually there's pregnancy support centers that do free U/S if your doctor won't.

Which is why we should stick to "weeks" and not "months". If we considered every "month" as 4 weeks, then at 40 weeks we'd considered 10 months pregnant. Different sources say different things, so lets just stick to weeks:-) LOL

Not necessarily by 3-4 months. I'm 20 weeks and I haven't felt the baby move yet (but I've also had 3 u/s so I know my baby is okay), my doctor said majority feel movement between 16-24 weeks (so even up to the 5th month can be considered normal) but you are well past that. Insist on an u/s or drive to another city and see another doctor. At 6 months you should be feeling regular movements.

Ok so I got that wrong myself about 28 weeks, thats actually the 7 month mark not the halfway point. but if we weren't 6 months until 28 weeks then we wouldnt be due til 44 weeks...and that would suck :(

8 months is entirely too long to wait for an ultrasound -- my goodness, we aren't in the stone ages anymore! WTF kind of quack doctor IS she?? I agree with everyone here, 24 weeks and no movement whatsoever is cause for concern. Tell the doc your concerns, and if she doesn't order an ultrasound or at least use a fetal doppler to check the baby's heartbeat... go to the ER or urgent care. This is YOUR child, and as a mother you would do everything in your power to protect him/her if they were already born, right? Take the same approach and stance for your child that is unborn. S/he deserves it. Good luck to you.

They do know what they are talking about, 24 weeks is not 6 months. I am 20 weeks 2 days, which is 4 months and 17 days. So 24 weeks would be about 5 months 1 week.
