Q: Chances of miscarriage??

I am 10 weeks pregnant today. At 6w2d, I started spotting and went to the ER. They did an ultrasound and said the baby was perfectly fine, and we even saw the heartbeat (which was 113bpm). I had my first prenatal appointment at 7w8d, and he said everything was fine. They didn't even try to pick the heartbeat up on the doppler, he said it was too early. I've read different places that the chance of miscarriage is significantly reduced when you HEAR the heartbeat, but we never have got to hear it, we just saw it on the ultrasound. Anyone know what the chances of miscarriage is now? I haven't had any other problems, I just worry too much. We miscarried last year at 6w, which makes it even worse...
I have ordered a fetal doppler, but am awaiting for it to arrive, and my next prenatal isn't until 14 weeks.

After losing a pregnancy its totally normal to be worried. Im the same. I heard my babies HB on a home doppler at 9+3 =) If you have an anterior placenta you may not be able to hear until later. Lie on your back with your hips elevated and be patient, It may take a while to find it the first time. Xx

First of all, don't get scared if you can't hear the heart beat on the Doppler. I read that you can't even use a home Doppler until after 20 weeks. I miscarried at 7 1/2 weeks last time, so I understand your fear. I had some spotting over 24 hrs after intercourse and I was SURE I was miscarrying again. You have to trust that everything is going well. Think of how in-tune with your body you are compared to last time. You will know if something is wrong.

Spotting to totally normal and very common in early pregnancy. I'm 13w 3d now w/twins, had bright red at 6w, found out I had a subchorionic hematoma in Baby A's placenta. It has since then resolved itself, but I am still seeing spotting and/or tinged discharge over 7 weeks later. The fact you 'saw' the heartbeat is a very good sign, and does decrease your chances of miscarrying again significantly. I can identify with your worry though, as I've gone through two miscarriages myself. Everything freaks you out. Just try to relax and make it to 14 weeks - remember it's in your best interest of you AND your baby's health to keep calm. Your body and the baby will do their thing, so just try and ride it out the best you can for now. xoxo!

you are just worried for nothing. Spotting is very normal, especially at 6 weeks. I went into the ER two days ago for very heavy bleeding. The next day I went into my DR and he said the baby was fine. You only need to worry if it is dark red blood and a lot of it. Two days later I am still bleeding but not very much and it is light pink. I am 9 weeks 3 days. You'll be fine. It sounds like this is your first baby. This is my third.

As Steph said once you see or hear the heartbeat it drops to I believe 3% chance. (though some websites and info say a heartbeat detected/seen/heard at 8 weeks it drops to 3%) and then by 16 weeks when the heartbeat is detected with a normal ultrasound then its only 1%.

The risk decreases after you "see" or "hear' the heartbeat, but it decreases much more after week 13 when you begin your second trimester. Try not to worry too much:-)

I had spotting at 6/8/14 weeks and my baby is perfect (now 26weeks) I only ever "saw" the heartbeat. I only got to hear it for the first time last week, so don't let the fact you haven't heard the heartbeat put you off. If the doctors are happy its visible then theres no need to worry. Getting to week 12 is the worst wait ever, but everyday lessens your chances of anything going wrong. Good Luck and everything will be fine :)
