Q: Sex after birth, is it back to normal?

I am pregnant with my first child, and this question goes out to all of those women who have already gone through vaginal labor. Alright ladies, truthfully, does your vagina go back to the size it was before labor, or is it a permanent stretch? I have this fear that sex won't feel as good again, or that my husband will not enjoy it as much, because it feels more loose. Any advice, or opinions on the subject?

I had a tear with my son and my husband says im pretty much the same down there and it feels the same. Might be a bit sore if you tear cause of scar tissue but it will go away (:

and to the person who said she would rather have a c-section then a vaginal delivery, i think that is absolutely ridiculous!!! your vagina is made for bringing children into the world. i would DEFINITELY not choose a c-section just so my husband is happy. 6 weeks of rough recovery so your husband gets better sex ??? insane. poor choices if you ask me !!!

lets be honest ladies, its not the same after your first baby. but your husband wont likely notice (or admit it) just be sure to do kegals like the other women said. it also depends on the trauma of the birth. large baby or small, episiotomy or not.
my first was over 9 pounds and i had to get an episiotomy, i was only 17 so it was very hard. i had stitches inside and out. it was a very hard recovery, and it has done the worst damage out of all my 3 kids. there will be scars (in some cases) and maybe some discoloration. it will look different, but with exercises, it doesnt have to feel different :)

that is mostly why your first baby will be harder to deliver then subsequent.

If you do Keigel exercise daily it keeps you in great condition. The vagina is a muscle & if you religiously do the exercises to contract that muscle & condition it it can improve even a vagina of a women who has never had a child. My husband says that I have the best control & well to not be tasteless I'll say snug vagina of any woman he has ever been with & he said that while we were dating and I had delivered three children vaginally and another by C-section before I ever met him. I personally found the C-section HORRIBLE and it does alot more damage to your body than natural. It is a very cold & detcahed way to give birth. The recovery sucks and the scars never go away as well it took years for me to get all the feeling back over the incision and twice the effort to keep six pack abs since the muscle was cut it takes a lot longer to recover it. a stretched muscle re-coops completely whilst a cut muscle is never exactly the same. essentially EXERCISE is the answ

Our husband wont let us know if our vagina is bad or not after birth .. They will never let us know lol.. My sister's boyfriend was married before and had a child with his ex. He told my sister after the birth of his child the vagina of his ex was like a bag he didnt enjoy sex anymore.. Because he could not feel anything.. His dick was loose there lol.. If God wanna I will have my baby by C- section!! I will not take a chance .. There are a lot other problems too when you have vaginal birth as fetal stress, mental issues if baby take too much to be delivered, risk of have to go to a c-section after had been through all the pain ( vaginal birth) .. God bless you

I had a vaginal birth with stitches - I have to say I found it to be better afterwards. I was worried about it too, so did lots of pelvic floor exercises after my LO was born.
Also my friend is on baby #5 and her OH says he notices no difference - plus they were all delivered vaginally. It's amazing how well a body can return back to normal after birth

I don't know from personal experience, but I do have close friends that have been through this and they say sex is the same if not better afterwards. A woman's body is a crazy thing and bounces back. Also, if you tear and get stitches, chances are you will be the same "size" you were previously.

Also, try kegal exercises to tighten the muscles in the vaginal wall, this will help them stay firm and strong.
