Q: double miscarriage, twins ? (GRAPHIC!)

this happened over a year ago but 1 question still bothers me.. was it twins?
long story... I was 10 weeks along, hadnt had a prenatal check yet. I started bleeding without cramps, suddenly ALOT of bleeding happened, pouring down my legs. we rushed to the ER, where we had to wait for 2 hours while i had clots the size of my fist coming out of me. they finally saw me, took my blood, checked me out. said my levels were only at about 5 weeks. i understand this is a missed miscarriage... well the bleeding wouldnt stop, i needed a blood transfusion and was near cardiac arrest. after the bleeding slowed down some the doctor attempted to removed "pieces" manually rather then a D&C...(i was on morphine for pain and was very emotionally distraught at the time) she took about 4 "pieces" and put them in a pan... i didnt see it but i did see her going for the pan.
after that she said she thought she got it all but wanted an ultrasound to check for sure. during the ult

First I'm really sorry you had to go through what you did. Things stick in our minds and we question a lot after coming down off the "high" of what you go through. Surely there are records, maybe even with your insurance, of what happened. Double could mean a few things in the pregnancy AND regular medical field. The ultrasound findings could tell you a lot too. Good luck and I hope that you find what your looking for.

I agree you should request your records. I think it's the only way you'll know and hopefully it can give you some closure:-(

It might have been an emergency room, and not a general practitioner, but you can still request your records from the hospital that it took place at, regardless of it being over a year, and regardless of it being an ER. They should still have your records.

...during the ultrasound, the tech said to the doctor,, "it looks like it might be a double", the doctor says "yea, i think so too" i wish i had of asked, but like i said, i was very emotional and couldnt even look towards the ultrasound screen. so they brought me back to the doctor, where she again tried to pull more pieces out... got a couple.. another ultrasound... more left inside... in the end i had to get a D&C. I didnt have a family doctor at the time so i cant really find out, and it has been over a year. my question is... could a "double" mean twins ? if i was only 5 weeks, how could she pull out pieces on 2 separate times, AND do a D&C.plus...the bleeding.. it was so much... it was a horrible experience that will always stick with me, but me an my husband still wonder if it may have been twins.
