Q: is anyone else losing their hair????

Since ive gotten my BFP ive been shedding hairs at an abnormal pace. Everytime i run my fingers through my hair, im left with tons of strands on my hands! it happens every single day and is highly alarming! Im afraid at this rate that ill have bald patches all over my head!

Has this happened to anyone else?

You are actually supposed to stop shedding your hair (hence why your hair looks thick and lustrious during pregnancy. Mine looked amazing and then after I gave birth it caught up with itself and shed loads!

Yay hormones! It's possible to either stop shedding hair, or to shed more when pregnant, just depends on how your body reacts to pregnancy. You will definitely not get bald spots. But talk to your doc or midwife about it.

Are you taking your prenatal vitamins? My hair actually stopped shedding and is thickest it's been in years and I'm so loving it even though I know it's short lived!

Like the last poster, I've noticed my hair seems to get greasy a lot faster, but I haven't been losing more than before. Hair loss is listed in the pregnancy symptoms part of this site though, so it must be pretty common. I've read that putting coconut oil on your hair for 30 minute prior to a shower will help it become soft and shiny, as well as leave it super conditioned so it is less likely to break. I tried it the other night and it was so amazing. It smelt great, and my hair was soooo soft afterwords! If you try it, just remember to wash your hair twice afterwords so it isn't greasy after.

Ive been taking prenatal vitamins for 5 months before I even got pregnant. Not everyone gets the lustrous hair when pregnant.

with this pregnancy I started losing my hair as soon as I got my BFP. It is probably normal, or why would it be happening to us lol? It was strange for me too because with my first pregnancy I didn't lose hair until after I gave birth. My hair loss has slowed now, I am sure it is just a hormonal thing and you will be fine.
