Q: Dewey Ray Flowers?

My husband and I are having a hard time coming up with a baby boy name. We get to find out the baby's gender in 2 weeks. Dewey and Ray are both family names that mean alot to us, so we were thinking of just using one of them as a middle name, but we'd love to be able to use both names. Our daughter's name is Kimber Ann. What do you think?

I have to agree with the other posters, Dewey Ray Flowers basically screams "make fun of me" for a boy. I can understand wanting to use family names but with a last name like Flowers, you've got be pretty careful with what you name a boy. It's completely up to you guys of course and you need to pick a name you're both happy with, but I would suggest something a little more masculine or at least something that can't be related to flowers as easily as Dewey and Ray. Even just changing one of the names makes a big difference, for example Jason Ray Flowers doesn't sound nearly as feminine as Dewey Ray Flowers.

I think sometimes you have to try to balance the desire to use family names with the desire to give your child a name they'll like and be able to identify with.

I agree that Dewey Ray Flowers is not an appropriate name for a boy. Too much of dew and rays of sunshine :-) Try naming him something more masculine because with these names he'll be a target of bullying. Trust me, I work with children. Good luck!!!

I'm sorry, but Dewray is just as silly as Dewey Flowers. I understand that those names are important, but with that last name... I don't think it's practical for a legal name. How about you name him something normal, like Steven or John Ray Flowers, and then just call him Dewy? My friend's kid's name is Cliff, but they call him Beau. I didn't even realize his name was legally Cliff forever. Sorry ((hugs))

ok i hope i didnt offend you with my answer,,, i only meant Dewey Flowers.. as in the flowers are full of dew.. just what i thought of when i read it. i like the last answer, Dewray is cute! try doing something creative :) or wait until hes born, sometimes its easier when you have a little face to go with the name.

if flowers is your last name.. i would not name the baby Dewey, at least not for first name.. Dewey Flowers is just too easy to make fun of.

where does Flowers come in ? is that your last name? or something you want to name the baby ?

you could always try putting a new twist on the name... i cant think of any examples right now but you could always alter the names a bit to make it more unique and "your own"
