Q: For those of you who have a fetal doppler, do you ever get more than one or two heartbeats?

I know it picks up my heartbeat, and I can feel my pulse in my thumb while I'm holding the doppler, but sometimes I will pick up the baby's heartbeat, and it will be like 140-153 range (usually) then all of a sudden it will go way up to like 189. Sometimes it sounds like 2 heartbeats at the same time, like one is faster than the other. Does this happen to anyone else? What else could be the explanationg besides twins?

THe HB will fluctuate as the baby moves too, so it isn't uncommon to notice a change like that in the HB...

As others mentioend you can read the umbilical and placenta blood flow but my specialist today mentioned that my baby had a great increase in heart beat with activity. Like us when we run our heart beat rises, same happens to baby when moving about so you may catch jumps in the heart beat of baby during active periods. My doc only listened for a few minutes today but she noted a few rises in heart beat, around the same time I was feeling movement and kicks.
