Q: did anyone have a vaginal u/s at 6 weeks and see just a sac but later go on to have a healthy baby?

Today went in for an ultrasound performed by the doc, who could only see a sac and lining, he said either the pregnancy isn't healthy or I just have my dates wrong and to do HCG but honestly I am afraid after just having a chemical in January.

I hope i am just like you. I just calculated myself and I am actually a week behind so I am thinking at 5 weeks it wouldnt be much anyways. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I literally just had this happen to me last Thursday. I had gone into the er for some bleeding (didn't have it with my other two so I was worried). They ran blood tests, u/a, and adominal also transvaginal u/s. I figured myself at 7 weeks 4 days at the time of all this because my ovulations had been spot on. When the tech only say the sak she decided to do transvaginal to measure. Come to find out I was only 6 weeks 5 days. My beta was 9857 Thursday and they were concerned it was dropping. I had to go back in this past Monday for another draw. It came back as 20356. So my guess is you ovulated late like I did. I hope all works out well for you.

well i go back june 3rd. I came up that I would be a day before 8 weeks I think like 7w6d and going by my ovulation i ovulated on day 20 and maybe even later than that since i get a few opks in a row so might even be that. I am just going to wait and go back in the 3rd. I am pretty sure I am week behind or something. Thank you guys so much for the answers and reassurance!

I would go by your OPk since that is more precise (ovulation date is better than lmp). In that case, for five weeks all is well as long as your hcg is rising. At six weeks or six weeks and a few days you should see something. It will be really tiny :). You may even see a heartbeat like we did. We go in today (7w+3) and our doctor said we'd be able to hear the heartbeat with the vaginal ultrasound. If you go in again around that time frame you will have lots to look forward to! When they measure the little peanut they will also give you more exact gestational age. We did IUI so we knew exactly because of when we triggered but it was cool to see the machine measure and spit out the same age.

this early on, even a few days can determine what can be seen. Plus they all grow and develop at different rates, or there is always the possibility of a lat implantation. Keep me updated. When do you go back?

Yes!! At 5 weeks there is nothing but a sac to be seen. Sometimes at 6 weeks you can see more but not always. For me it turned out I was only 5 weeks at that first sono which explained why we could only see the sac. I was upset assuming i was 6 weeks and they couldnt see anything, after having other losses its hard not to assume the worst. But I went yesterday and saw a baby with a heart beat :)

I had this happen with my current pregnancy but I wasn't using opk's so I wasn't sure of my dates. At 6 weeks 0 days we saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac with an abdominal sono. I went back 2 weeks later and we saw a baby. Turns out I ovulated really late, and i was off by a week. I looked stuff up like crazy and it seems like it's common not to see much at 6 weeks. I hope that's the case for you and that everything will be ok. They also drew a beta on me that day we saw nothing and it was really high so they told me that was good.
