Q: Normal HCG Levels, brown discharge with cramps...

Hi Everyone.

I am between 5-6 weeks pregnant. I have had a couple of episodes of brownish spotting that were really nothing to report. Then this past Sunday (8/4/13) I went to the ER with a little bright red blood (not enough to wear even a panty liner). My levels were rising nicely and upon examination my cervix was closed. I had an ultrasound the next morning and we saw the gestational sac. I am having some achy cramping and back pain with light brown discharge. Could this be normal after having a transvaginal ultrasound? I have had two miscarriages, and then went on to have a healthy baby boy (who will be 9 tomorrow!). I am just really stressing about this. Here are my HCG Levels:
7/23: 9
7/24: 15
7/25: 31
7/26: 80
7/30: 847
8/1: 1527
8/4: 4726

Thoughts??

I am going through the same thing right now. We thought I was 8 weeks and I started spotting. The doctor did a ultrasound this Monday and we found that I 5 1/2-6 weeks. We saw the gestational sac and a small fetal pole but no heart beat yet. I go back in 1week for another ultrasound. She said the spotting is normal for how far along I am. After my ultrasound I started spotting more and a little pinky red. My doctor said that could happen but to take it as easy a possible. She also told me that if I am going to have another miscarriage there is nothing I could do to prevent it. It just a waiting game to see what will happen. So hang in there.

I never had any issue with the ultrasound, it shouldn't have messed with your cervix or anything, but this could just be residual spotting from implantation or from baby really burrowing in and getting settled. Brown is ok, if it gets bright red you need to go in right away.
