Q: Good stool softener when pregnant?

I'm going to need to start taking this daily to relieve stress constipation.

Can anyone recommend a good softener that I can purchase at the drug store?

(I already drink tons of water and eat fresh fruits, whole grains, etc....but when I am stressed, I get constipated. I also am afraid to go when I get bleeding episodes, so that makes it worse).

I take Calcium Citrate and Magnesium Citrate supplements daily. My doctor said they work in combination to prevent constipation. I swear by it and it is totally safe. Good luck.

Lactulose is the safest. Don't know what trade name you'll find it under there. It retails as Lacson, Duphalac and Laxette here.

My dr told me to go ahead and use miralax. I swear by that stuff ever since my last pregnancy. On positive note of that but if you get the cherry flavor it tastes like the inside on a chocolate covered cherry. that was the only reason i could stomach it

My OB recommends Surfax or Colace as being pregnant friendly. I have never had to use one, but I have had pregnant friends use Colace, so that may be the better of the two.
