Q: Hcg levels raising quickly. TWINS?

I have just fallen pregnant after miscarrying on nye. I had no period so we are unsure of when I fell. I knew almost start away I was preg, my body felt different but blood tests said no. A week later had positive home test. Dr sent me for a blood test levels were in 400's. A few days later now I the 3000's. Dr said it makes me 8-9wks pregnant. That can't be right as I was pregnant with the bub I miscarried at that time. Iit's been 5.5wks since my miscarriage. Could I be having twins if my levels are raising quickly?

My hcg levels @ 6 weeks were 40,000 I'm just having one baby :)
We thought twins as my levels were tripling and really high but ultrasound showed one sticky baby

I had a MC 6 weeks before getting pregnant again. During my first beta 48 hours apart, my hcg levels doubled every 16 hours. They told me not to read anting into it. I was concerned too. I went in at 8 weeks for a scan and it was twins. I'm now 18 weeks with fraternal twins. good luck!

Actually, your hcg levels put you somewhere in the 5 wks range, which sounds about right if you miscarried at the end of Dec. The American Pregnancy Assoc has a chart of avg hormone levels per week & 5 wks can be as high as 7400. Even if your hormones were rapidly rising, it isn't always indicative of multiples as some women simply have higher levels than others. Mine were over 7000 at 5 weeks 1 day with my first & I had just the one baby. Whatever the case yours may be, congrats!

Don't read too much into it.... it depends on your body. But if your levels are rising fast, there could also be a problem as it is a sign of other issues as well. Are you getting them checked again?

Good Luck x
