Q: For those who had an US done @ 7 weeks or earlier, was your doctor also able to record a heart rate?

I had my US today and he was unable to record the heart rate, but we did see it flickering and it was a little audible when he turned the volume up.

I had an ultrasound done at 6+3 last time the heart was flickering but not able to measure however bub was measuring way behind at 5+1 (our dates were exact- IVF baby) Unfortunatly not a good outcome for us. It really depends on their equipment though. Was bub measuring the right size?

at 5w4d they couldn't even see the baby, just a sac, but at 7w4d I was measuring 6w6d and they measured it at 126bpm. It was just 5 days younger than I had thought it was because I ovulated late. So I guess it really depends on where you really are at date-wise. Sperm can live a few days in there so its not necessarily the day you do the deed, and a few days makes a huge difference. I saw people getting HBs at 5w and I panicked wondering why at 5w4d they saw nothing, but it was because I was only 4w6d :)

I was 7 weeks 4 days for my first ultrasound, and we were able to see and hear (with the ultrasound) the heartbeat. I was measuring 7 +6.

Also wanted to add that at 13 weeks they have still not been able to hear the HB, only see it on US. It looks great on the US, nice strong and fast but for some reason no one can find it to hear it... I wouldn't worry too much about audio.

With my first pregnancy, they weren't able to get a measureable heart rate until 8 weeks and it was weak even then. With this pregnancy, they found a strong, measurable heart rate at 6w3d and it was audible.

Thanks for the reply lilan18. Forgive me if I am being too inquisitive, but did you carry that baby to term? If so, was it healthy? I hope you don't mind me asking.
