just wana put this out there....... i had a cup of coffee yesterday for the first time in months. made me feel soooooo freakin good. i havent felt that good since i got pregnant. perked me right up, gave me some energy, eased my nausea, made my tummy feel like it wasnt empty.. lol best thing i ever did was drink that coffee. i know too much caffeine isnt good for you when you're pregnant, because it can cause certain problems in the fetus but 'can cause' and 'will cause' are two different concepts. how does that go? if the benefits outweigh the risks than go for it?

I know exactly what you mean as I have a 16 months girl at home too and I'm super tired. So far I was just having black tea as I mentioned, but the exhaustion is getting worse and I feel like I'm about to collapse some days so I might be just having one small cup of coffee a day. As long as its not more then 200mg.

Thanks ladies!!!! Your comments are like music to my ears.
Sunshinebaby, I don't know why black tea didn't even pop into my head... especially in the evenings when i need a kick start before I get in front of the computer to do some work.
HzlGreenEyes, same, i couldnt even smell coffee without throwing up for my first two pregnancies. Im still only 4 weeks but im hoping the same doesnt happen.
Papas~Mama, I will enjoy my java!!! thanks for the reinsurance mama!
BMA625 my child is slowly driving me crazzy. one cold and all his sleep training went out the window. Im exhaused, i just want him to sleep through the night. And ya its funny how people say to stay away from coffee and yet I rarely hear anything about pop (or soda for my american mamas;-) not to mention coffee has a lot less sugar in it.
monroezelda hell ya, the stress of not having it IS worse lol!!

With my first 3 pregnancies no one ever mentioned caffine an I never read about it, I drank atleast 8 mugs coffee a day plus a bottle of coke , all perfectly fine . Drank no caffine with 4th mc at 11 weeks. Drank about 4 cups a day with 5th pregnancy tha was fine. This one I have 1 small cup coffee an 1 can coke most days. My mc was a molar so not related to caffine but jst sayin caffine has never affected me. I think the stress of not having one is worse.

I can totally relate!! I have a 1 yr old as well, and his sleeping patterns are all of sudden totally out of whack!! I read you can have 200 mg. of caffeine a day; I had a coke a few times a week my last pregnancy- so I plan to do the same again. I'm WAY more exhausted this pregnancy than I recall on my last, but then again.. it may be because I'm not sleeping like you! LOL!! Good luck mama! And have some caffeine!! :)

I have a large 16 oz. cup of regular a day. They say 2 cups is usually fine but like Papas~Mama said, it's all about moderation. In my 1st pregnancy, I lost the taste for coffee all together due to hormonal changes. It just tasted awful. This time around I NEED that bit of caffeine in the morning too and I don't skimp on it. Just stay hydrated throughout the day. Caffeine is a diuretic and depletes your body of water which is bad because dehydration will lead to preterm labor. I already learned the hard way. Feel Good!

I drink a couple cups of coffee every day, a regular size cup like people have at home. If I don't have coffee, I have a soda. You don't have to cut caffeine totally out, most any doctor will tell you that. There are people who go all out during pregnancy and get wild about what they eat and go all organic and no caffeine and yadda yadda, but you don't have to be extreme like that. Moderation is the key. Have a cup of java and enjoy yourself:)

From what I know the safest amount is 200mg max per day. I cut coffee and I only drink black tea ( one cup has 45mg).
