Q: Why do so many people find the responses that pregnant mums give as unhelpful???

I really like this website but it is really off-putting seeing SO many select the responses as 'unhelpful' - especially when any reasonable person would find them helpful!

Aside from the obvious trouble makers, there are also, I have found, those hopefully or newly expectant mothers who just want people to agree with them or see lines that aren't there. They get angry and it's normal for them to find counter opinions unhelpful.

Sadly, there have been a couple of times (that I know of) between here and the CTP page where trolls have caused irritation and misery. They've shown up on the TWW page, too. I remember one lady on TWW who turned detective and found out that at least a couple of the trolls were very active members of The Bump. Sad, I know, but some people have the impression that if they're unhappy, that the rest of the world needs to be too. Just ignore them, they eventually get bored and go away.....

It's like how on the sister site, folks will vote "negative" on a clearly positive hpt. Some people get their thrills in confusing ways.

This is my second time around on this site, and my 4th baby. Last time i noticed that for a couple of months, there was someone who was obviously just clicking "unhelpful" on every single answer to every question they could, just to be a bitch. So much so, that woman started posting questions like this, irritated, asking who the hell was doing it because it was getting on everyone's nerves! It stopped right after that. lol It's unfortunate that you cant tell who's doing it. I think that's why someone like that pops up on here every now and then. The anonymity makes them brave. Combine that with hormones, and some people just let that bitch flag fly! lol

I agree. It has almost makes me think, why even bother answering these questions and give my advice. I mean I have only been through this 3 times and now a 4th so what do I know!! lol. Sometimes I just think some people do it to be spiteful, sad to say.

I'm pretty sure there are "trolls" on herewho just go through and click "unhelpful" on every answer just to be a pain in the arse. I ignore the unhelpful because I truly don't believe it's the person who asked the question who is clicking that. Any answer for me is appreciated. Try not to pay attention to the trolls :)

Unfortunately, I too have noticed that a few ask the same question multiple times expecting a different answer or not getting what they want to hear. I mean we can only give advice to what we have experienced personally, but ultimately they should seek the advice from a doctor if they are not getting the response they want. I get that pregnancy is nerve wrecking and we get concerned over every ache or lack there of... but clicking "unhelpful" is ridiculous. Sorry for your frustration!
