Q: Anyone try evening primrose oil?

Was it successful? I want to try to have my baby between 37-38 weeks to avoid having a csectionwhat dosage are or have you taken? Right now I'm just talking one 500mg capsule I'm a little nervous about increasing it because I'm only 34 weeks right now. If anyone knows of a way to help things along so that when I get to 37-38 weeks I can go easy and not have my stomach cut open.

I used it to soften the cervix one capsule morning and night as per doctors advise and raspberry tea leaves capsules as well. This was from 36 weeks on. I was induced at 38+6 due to gestational diabeties and had an emergency c-section. I found that after two children and talking to doctors and midwives and other Mums babies will really only come when they are ready unless they are forced by medical intervention. I've been following your story and I really hope for your situation that you will go into early labour. Although, nothing but a naturally induced labor is the best, if you still wish to have an earky kabor you can surely chose your own way. Perhaps this is an age old myth that if delayed any longer than 38 weeks, doctors will do a c-section. Sometimes, the patient is even keot in the hospital post due date because the cervix isn't dilated as much. Doctors chose to do a c-section only when it is really an emergency, and when the mother is feeling it hard to keep up any longer!

They are mainly going off ultrasound and the size of my last baby. I've been taking 1 capsule in the morning and inserting one at night. But read to wait to insert more until I'm at least a week or two ahead.

Yes I also had 2 stretch and sweeps done from 37 weeks with my last baby as well and they didn't work but just because nothing seems to work for me it doesn't mean it won't for you and that is so true U/S's can be off by a lot at the end of a pregnancy for measurements. :-)

Lol that's ok. :) everything I've read on it has conflicting stories. Some had success while others said they had a much faster and easier delivery with it. I've a follow up scan Friday to recheck growth crossing fingers it's slowed down a lot that way they will at least listen to me. Even nurses from the hospital I'm going to deliver at said ultrasounds aren't that reliable and are off a pound or two in either direction. It really sucks when your clinic doesn't listen at all. Did you try anything else during your last pregnancies to go into labor? My last daughter was born a week late so at 41 weeks I'm almost wondering if they are taking that into account.
