False Labor?

Last night I was having contractions every 3 minutes for hours, so I decided I better go to L&D and get checked. By the time I got there contractions were only 2 minutes apart and were consistent. They wanted me to walk the halls for an hour to try to move things along. I was only one cm dilated. So I walked for an hour, contractions were mostly 1 minute apart but some were two min. and very painful. They checked me again. STILL AT ONE CM. What the heck. So they gave me something similar to benedryl to "stop the contractions and help me sleep" and sent me home. I am miserable. How can you have contractions so close together and not be admitted? I am still having them, however, they aren't as close together since they gave me that medicine. The nurse said, "you're probably just going to be one of the unlucky ones who has close contractions for weeks until it's time. Since the contractions are so close, don't come back unless you can't walk." GEE THANKS. This is my third pregnancy.... shouldn't the baby just fall out? LOL. Obviously, I know that's not how it works but still.

![]() | Comment from babylove14 » Posted Sep. 8, 2018 4:06pm Yep. That's how I went. I was 1cm at 36 weeks. Then 3cm the day I went into labor at 39wks. I know everyone is different but I say, if you haven't already, get your hospital bagged packed :) |
![]() | Comment from adiggs » Posted Sep. 8, 2018 3:16am Well, hopefully I have a quick labor to look forward to then. :) Today I had a regular appointment scheduled and I was 2cm dilated. So at least something is moving along. |
![]() | Comment from babylove14 » Posted Sep. 7, 2018 11:33pm That's how my last pregnancy went. I was 1cm during my 8th Month. My contractions got stronger and I finally had her after only 2 hours of active labor. From my research, that happens more often after your first or second baby. The contractions slowly get worse over the next few weeks then labor is FAST. Hopefully you don't suffer the way I did though. |
