I am such a worry wart

I while back, I purchased a fetal doppler. I have been trying to find the babies heartbeat since week 9 with no success. Even though I am showing signs that all point to positive things, I am fixating on the fact that I can't find the heartbeats. I know I probably won't have any success finding it for a while & I know it'sore difficult because I'm plus size & I really should put the damn thing away till I'm further along.
I just need to continue to believe that God is protecting me & my babies & keeping them safe

Comment from itsbeans » Posted Jan. 6, 2015 11:37am twins are smaller later on because, well there's only so much real estate to be had! but they should be the same size as singletons at this point I'd imagine? you'll find those heartbeats soon!
Comment from estone » Posted Jan. 1, 2015 1:01pm Try lower on your pubic bone area. I found mine around 11 weeks. You have to press a little hard too.
Comment from stillfuntryin » Posted Jan. 1, 2015 3:12am Stickybean what makes you think twins are smaller???
Comment from Quartz3 » Posted Dec. 31, 2014 12:29pm Haha, I totally get that! With my son I forced myself to wait until I was 12 weeks before purchasing my doppler. This time around, it was just lying there, in my face, so I started trying to find the heartbeat at 7 weeks. I was lucky (and flabbergasted) to find it at 8 weeks, but I knew where to look, and I have a tiny frame, so I guess it helps. But I would have the same reaction if I had not been able to find it - I'd understand it's normal and is nothing to worry about, but I'd still obsess about it! Oh well. We all need something to obsess about, don't we? ;)
Comment from cosmoholic » Posted Dec. 31, 2014 7:43am My midwife wouldn't even TRY to find the heartbeat until after 12 weeks... she said that before then it wasn't sure that she'd find it and that it would just stress me out for no reason. Try not to worry - you'll find the heartbeats soon! :)
Comment from dbrissette » Posted Dec. 31, 2014 7:38am thanks. I hate that I worry as much as I do. like most, I've been on this journey for so long and the fear of miscarrying again is so haunting. I want something so bad that I am petrified of losing it. I trust in God & know he is protecting them. Thanks for the kind words.
Comment from stickybean1976 » Posted Dec. 31, 2014 3:54am Sometimes the dopplers don't work that early, some don't pick the HB up until 12-14 weeks, depends on the brand etc. Also carrying twins the babies will be smaller than a singleton so it may be a little harder to find. As previously said sometimes it is hard to get the exact right spot, I found it hard up until 14 weeks but now the baby is so much bigger and stronger it seems a lot easier to find. I wouldn't worry. It is normal to struggle to find the HB at home with a Doppler this early :-)
Comment from stillfuntryin » Posted Dec. 31, 2014 12:23am My problem was I concentrated in the wrong spot, you will vnd them soon :) |
