1cm dilated.....27 weeks....
By Bostonmama08 » Posted Dec. 9, 2013 3:01pm - 310 views - 5 comments

So the first half of my pregnancy was spent crying because I was bleeding the entire time....now the second half I am going out of my mind because I have constant contractions and now I have officially began to dilate early. This is why I am getting my tubes burned 12 weeks after I give birth.....

I went in to the Labor and Delivery unit yesterday for some pink/red spotting.....only to find out my external OS of my cervix is irritated and dilated 1cm. My internal OS is closed tight....but I have lost some of my mucus plug. Baby's fluid levels are good....growth is good....heart rate good.

This morning, yet again had to be checked at the doctors office because I'm having some wierd pressure in my cervix. Still 1cm dilated externally and closed internally. My doctor put me on some antibiotics as a precaution because I am checked so often and my cervix is slightly friable. She just doesn't want to take any chances.

So....here I sit....28 weeks tomorrow....baby is doing great, but my body is slowly giving up. I took off work for a few days to rest and give the baby at least a few days of being inside rather than outside. After a few days off, I will go back only if I feel up to it and can cancel my appointments with students if needed (I am an educational auditory therapist). My job requires a lot of travel time between our elementary, middle and high schools....but when I get to the school, it is a lot of sitting. I can at least do that. We'll see what Wednesday brings....

Praying for at least 30 weeks.....then I'll feel even better.

I would be worried too! I guess the only positive light you can put on it would be that it's better this happen now, at 28 weeks, instead of back at 18 weeks. Every day you can keep that little guy in there increases his chances of being ok. I'm just happy there have been so many advances in preemie medical technology in the last 10 years. I just saw a birth announcement on here yesterday of a baby that was born at 24 weeks. She was born 4 months ago and is still in the NICU, but the fact that she has survived at all is amazing! 10-15 years ago, she would have had very little chance. I think if you can go even just 2-4 more weeks, everything will be ok. My boss at my old job had her daughter at 25 weeks and now she's a big, strong, healthy teenager. I'll be thinking of you, but i have a good feeling that it will turn out ok :-)

Praying for you to make it just a little longer! You've had such a difficult time through this pregnancy. Hang tough - you are in the home stretch. You are going to have an amazing story to tell your little one.
