8 Weeks (kind of)

Today CMP says I am 8 weeks, which is really only true if you go off my LMP and negate the fact that I didn't ovulate on CD14. But baby seems to be determined to catch up because at my ultrasound yesterday he/she was measuring at 7w6d, which would match my LMP exactly. :) Last Monday baby was measuring 6w2d and now is 2 days ahead of that growth. Fabulous!! The little heart was fluttering away at 157 bpm. The most beautiful thing to see EVER. I was so relieved that it took only a few seconds from my OB putting that lovely joystick in my bits to say "everything looks pefect" and turn the monitor for my husband and me to see. She also pointed out where the tiny little arm and leg buds are JUST about to start forming. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Makes me feel so much better about everything! Particularly since I had some spotting last week, which I am sure was because of the vaginal ultrasound... but still made me very nervous. That, and the fact that my faint symptoms disappear on a daily basis. It all messes with my head! But baby looks fabulous. This looks much, much better than last fall. The only time we have seen a baby this big is with our daughter so I am beginning to feel much more confident that this is going to be miracle take home baby #2!!!

My husband was grinning ear-to-ear in the ultrasound room yesterday. Our OB looked at him and said "Oh look how happy you are. I'm going to start crying". I love my OB so much. She is honestly like a family member at this point and it would be so great if she happened to be the OB on call when this little nugget makes his/her appearance. She was there for the birth of our daughter and let my husband deliver her, which just added to the moment.

We have still only told 2-3 close friends and NO family knows yet. I am planning to tell my mom on Mother's Day weekend when we see her, which I think will be extra special. Not sure how we're going to do it yet, but it will be so nice to be able to announce a pregnancy like a "normal person". With Elle my mom knew from the very beginning and was with me through all of the waiting on beta results, scans, etc.

It feels surreal to be pregnant again. Even all the meds and crazy shit I have to do can't get me down. I'm totally at peace with all of it and it's business as usual for me.

On the med front... my prednisone got upped on Monday from 20 to 30 mg. Wah wah. I actually asked about it after my immune results came back quite high. I was nervous it would mean bad results on the ultrasound, which thankfully wasn't the case. My immunologist agreed that 30mg might help calm down my cytokines a bit. I do hate that prednisone totally makes me gain more weight in the beginning. Woof. Not a big fan of that, but what can I do? The nice side effect is that it makes my eyelashes grow SO long. They're awesome!!! Unfortunately, it also means my leg hair and lady parts hair grows SUPER fast as well. It's ridiculous!

Not too much else is new - I've noticed I have more food aversions early on this time than with Elle. Some nausea too, but nothing bad at all. My boobs started getting a tiny bit tender a few days ago and I have not really noticed fatigue yet, which I thought was odd. I remember wanting to pass out by 7pm when I was pregnant with Elle. I will soak this energy up while it lasts! :)

Here's an ultrasound pic from yesterday. I'll try to get a bump pic uploaded soon. I'm not a super fan of the background we're using for our pics this time. It's kind of blah -- but oh well! That's not what is important. I'm just oddly particular about things like that. LOL.

Great news but I think you've just given me my new favorite phrase in "joystick in my bits"!

Yayayay! So happy to see this! I had more energy with Nina than Max too, I think when you have a little to chase around your body just finds extra reserves... either that or it's because you're just so used to being tired at this point you don't even register fatigue! I'm so beyond happy for you, can't wait to see that little bean keep growing!!
