8w5d - Pregnancy Differences and other ramblings
By ericalee » Posted Apr. 26, 2016 11:51am - 443 views - 7 comments

I've noticed some differences between this pregnancy and my daughter's pregnancy and wanted to jot them down while they're fresh in my mind. I'll be especially curious once we are able to find out the gender...

1. Nausea - I had ZERO nausea with my daughter in the first tri. Now I get it fairly regularly. It's nothing terrible, but I feel like I am either extremely hungry or hungover frequently...
2. Food Aversions - goes with the nausea, but aversions to food popped up WAY early this time. If I eat something that has a strong flavor I can't seem to stand the thought of it after eating it once. Heavier sauces, certain fish, and meats are the hardest.
3. Boobs - With Elle my boobs were much more sore and I seem to remember them growing in size by now. This time around I have a tiny amount of tenderness that comes and goes.
4. Sex Drive - My hormones were in overdrive when I was pregnant with Elle by this point in the pregnancy. This time around they have seen a major downshift. Hopefully they come back soon!

I think that's it for now! I do think it would be really cool if this baby ended up being a little boy. Mostly so I can tell my husband "SEE! I told you we'd have a boy!" ;) Also so I can stop explaining why I am knitting a navy blue blanket. Personally, I think it is a beautiful color for either a boy or a girl... but people seem to have a hard time accepting that I am knitting this color of blanket and don't know that I am having a boy. It's so odd!

Tomorrow is my official First OB Appointment!! It will be my third ultrasound and looking forward to seeing the changes the baby has made since last week.

We are planning to tell my mom the weekend of Mother's Day and what I am thinking of doing is framing the most recent ultrasound pic (since I will have another one next week too...) and then having Elle hold it and take a picture of that. Then I'd print that out and put it in a frame that says "My Grandchildren" or something like that where the plural is clear. It's simple, but to the point.. and my mom will actually be able to use the frame for years to come. My plan is to do the same for my MIL, but we're not quite sure when we will see her in person next so we need to figure that part out... Wish me luck on getting Elle to pose holding a framed photo long enough to get a picture that you can tell what it is!

Love the announcement to your mom :)
My symptoms have been very similar to last time - with the exception of a little more nausea. It will be fun to see if the differences mean anything! :)

My brother and his partner announced on Easter that they are expecting. He has a daughter that is twelve so to reveal it to her and the family they framed a T-shirt that says "Promoted to Big Sister" and had her open it in front of everybody. It was their way of making her a part of it by letting her be the center of attention for the big reveal.

That's exciting, I'm so anxious to find out what your having and if the differences mean anything! And people have the weirdest notions of boy and girl colors, I had Nina in a blue dress with a giant bow on her head the other day and a lady in the store asked if she was a boy :/

I am also wondering if same or different symptoms means anything for gender. I'm having the same exact symptoms as I did with my son (just a little bit earlier), so I'm thinking we're having another boy :) Also, I totally think navy is a gender-neutral color. And even if it wasn't, it'd still be ok! Good luck with the reveal, sounds adorable.

People have strong opinions about "boy" colors and "girls" colors and it's so silly. I put brown pants on Fiona and my mom was says, "those are boy pants." No mom, they have ruffles on the bottom! I put Fiona in a ton of navy and I personally like the color. I am so tired of pink but it's hard to avoid. I love your idea of announcing and how sweet that it will be on MOther's Day?!

My pregnancy is heaps different this time, which has been a good thing! Different genders really do change things ( well for me they do )
Love the pregnancy reveal idea, you will get the shots, I did a similar thing for Father's Day where I got Logan to hold a big I love daddy card and took some pictures in different spots, it was pretty hard but we got the job done lol, have fun with it!

Good idea on documenting here! I wish I would've done that with my daughter the first time around. Glad I am at least attempting to do it now..lol! It will be interesting to see if you are having a boy this time because things are different. I have had a lot of similarities with this pregnancy but a lot of differences as well. It is crazy that one pregnancy can be so different than the other! What a cute idea to tell your mom - I bet she will be thrilled with that Mother's Day gift! :) Can't wait to hear about your appointment and ultrasound :)
