10w4d - Telling my mom over Mother's Day

FINALLY got to tell my mom this weekend! :) We went to my grandma's over the weekend and spent time with my mom, aunt, and both my maternal and paternal grandmas. It was SO nice. Unfortunately, my dad was out of town so couldn't be there. We had gifts for everyone for Mother's Day and it worked out perfectly that my mom was last in the little circle to open her gifts. When it was my mom's turn I had her open the one from me first and then the one from Elle, which held "the reveal" in it. Hopefully you can see from the pic attached to this entry, but it is a picture of Elle holding a framed photo of our last ultrasound. It was reallllly tricky to try and get a 1 year old to sit still long enough to actually take the picture and even harder to try and get her to hold a picture frame so you could actually make out what it was a picture of. We tried doing it in the grass first and she just kept crawling away. As we were walking back into the house I thought "oooh! let's try putting her in the hammock!". Worked like a charm!

Back to the reveal... The frame it is in also says "Grandkids"... as in plural. I thought that would help! My mom stared at it for a while and at first thought it was a picture of Elle holding a picture of HERSELF from an ultrasound photo. It took a good minute before she said "are you PREGNANT?!". It was pretty awesome!! She didn't even notice the word Grandkids on the frame. LOL. Of course! It was really fun though and I am so glad we finally got to announce a pregnancy "the normal way". My husband had my favorite picture of Elle and me from when she was a newborn printed on a canvas for my gift. I love it and started tearing up.

My dad and his girlfriend are coming to visit us tomorrow so we will tell them then and Adam's mom and her boyfriend are coming over for dinner tomorrow night so we'll tell them tomorrow as well. I'm pretty sure my MIL is suspicious because my husband is SO not smooth when it comes to covering things up. He called to invite her to dinner and it sounded so awkward... exactly like we are trying to surprise her but doing a reallly bad job at covering it up. I guess I should have prepped him. I was in the background saying "Tell her because we didn't get to see her on Mother's Day and wanted to make her a nice dinner". I mean come on... is it that hard?! And then he said my dad would be here too, which I think raised her suspicions more, but really my dad is here because his girlfriend's daughter had knee surgery and lives very close by so they are staying with us so they can visit her. It just works out pefectly that we can tell both of them. So hopefully it goes ok! :) :)

Other than that, not much new with me. I have been feeling really good aside from this awful 4am insomnia every night. No matter what I try, I seem to wake up at 4am and can't get back to sleep. I toss and turn until 5 and then just get up to get ready for the day. Hopefully that goes away SOON.

This past weekend there were tons of garage sales in my town, so I popped into a few and scored so much stuff!! I got some big things, like a cozy coupe, little tikes basketball hoop, and a kids trampoline with the little handlebar on it. Then I stopped at a sale where the lady was selling all of her amazingly awesome little girl's clothes and left with a GIANT bag of clothes. She had super cute clothes from places like Gap, Gymboree, Children's Place, H&M, etc. that were in excellent condition and were all priced at 50 cents to $1. Uhm, yes please! I was never a huge garage sale shopper, but now with kids who grow out of their clothes so fast and can be rather hard on them I can't NOT give it a try. I just wish I knew if we were having a boy or a girl come December, because if it is a boy I am going to need to do some more shopping!

I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day weekend!

That's the cutest thing ever! Making me wish I would have waited to surprise my mom (she was told via text image of the positive test, lol).
