14w5d - Attempting to be healthier!

I'm well into the second trimester now, woooooo!!! So excited!! Along with the second trimester comes a collective sigh of relief that I have made it past the BIG danger zone of the first tri. For people who struggle with immune system issues like I do, the first tri is very high risk for miscarriage. Luckily, despite my ridiculous immune numbers (that double infusion I had did SQUAT) baby has been doing marvelously. I will admit that I use my home doppler every few days to make me feel better. There is nothing that can calm my nerves like hearing that fast, steady heartbeat.

During the first trimester I took it VERY easy when it came to exercising. Basically walks on the treadmill, some light stationary biking, and lifting my 1 year old. :) I really enjoy exercising since it helps with both my mental and physical self, but have been paranoid that I would do something to jeopardize my pregnancy. Combine that with the fact that I am on prednisone, which makes me hungry ALL the time, I've packed on a decent number of pounds already PLUS have a nice round face because of the lovely "moon face" side effect prednisone gives you. Wonderful things all around that really help with a lady's self esteem! Now that I am in the second tri I am trying to get into a better routine by working out a few times a week. Still nothing elaborate, but I am doing my 21 day fix and fix extreme workouts, with some modifications. I am also trying to be much more conscious of what I am eating and not just eating whatever I am craving because I crave some pretty unhealthy things!! It is sooo difficult. I really can't wait until I am weaned off of the prednisone so I can go back to feeling like the real pregnant me and ditch this pudgy face too.

Other than that not too much is new. My only real pregnancy complaints are the more frequent headaches I have been getting and not being able to fall back asleep when I wake up around 4am.

We're starting to think about purchases we will need to make for kiddo #2 - a crib, securing our doula for delivery, photo sessions as a family before baby # 2 arrives and then after for newborn photos. Those are the biggest ones I think??

Oooh! I feel like I felt baby move about a week ago? That seems incredibly early, but I absolutely swear it felt like baby movements. With Elle I had an anterior placenta, so didn't feel anything until she was 20 weeks exactly. This time my OB said it looked like my placenta was on the back wall, which may help me feel the baby earlier... combined with the fact that this is pregnancy #2!

I'm very excited to find out whether this little babe is a gal or a guy. I feel like it is a boy? But then.. I thought Elle was a boy too. My mom also thinks it is a boy because of a vision she had, which I actually take semi-seriously. She told me I would have a girl with Elle and had a vision of her "twerking" in a dream. Just a few weeks ago I sent her a video of Elle dancing in the living room to music and my mom said that was exactly what she saw in her dream before she was born. She also picked Elle's birthday when I was only about 12 weeks along. I was due April 16 and got induced on April 12... my mom picked April 14 from the get go though... and she was right. When I went in to get induced on April 12 I can tell you I sure as hell didn't want her to be right!! So we'll see if she is right this time. She has said we will have a boy and that he will tentatively be born Nov. 28th, pending what we hear from my doctor about how early they will want to induce me. Hopefully I get to go on my own this time. That would be ah-maz-ing.

What a positive post, so happy for you! I did the 21DF workouts with Nina through most of my pregnancy with Nina, have fallen off the wagon a bit since she's been born though, definitely inspired to get back on!

Glad things are going well! I do have to say I admire your courage for doing the 21DF workouts while pregnant, modified or not. Lol. My daughter is almost 7 months and I've been back on the workouts since March and they're still kicking my butt. Couldn't imagine doing it while pregnant!

Congrats on making it into the second tri :) And so exciting that you are feeling movements here and there -- I don't think 14 weeks sounds too early for the 2nd babe. Good luck with the fitness regimen! I'm trying to do something similar now that I'm feeling a little bit better. It's really hard to say no to a good calzone though...

Yay! I was just thinking about you today wondering how you are doing! So glad everything is going well and that you are in the 2nd trimester all ready! Do you feel like time is flying this pregnancy for you? I am anxious to see if your mom is correct in both of her predictions :) Keep us posted on how you are doing!!
