Viability Day!!!
By ericalee » Posted Aug. 11, 2016 8:51am - 271 views - 4 comments

Today is the day! I have hit Viability Day!! :) :) Obviously, I want baby to stay baking for quite a while longer, but it is a huge milestone to know that if something went wrong it is possible for baby to survive on the outside.

Nausea set in about a week ago now. Along with some "loose stools"... ugh. I think I might actually be going through some prednisone withdrawal since they are tapering me off the prednisone now. I am not entirely sure though, as there are a few factors in the mix. All I know is that it SUCKS. I'm never nauseous enough where I could throw up, but I just feel like crap most of the day. It makes me want to try to eat to make it go away, but that doesn't seem to help. If it is withdrawal I reallllly hope it goes away soon.

I had my OB appt yesterday and everything looks good with little Baby Boy! Woo woo! Next appt I have to do that dreaded glucose test and get my dTAP shot. My OB started asking me about my birth plan this time and I don't really have a ton for it. It goes like this "Try to do it on my own... if I have to get induced and need pitocin I will want an epidural" The end. :)

Infusions for my immune system are going well, except my insurance decided to be an a-hole and deny the prior auth extension at the hospital I've been getting them at. They said it was too expensive so I spent some time trying to find a home health place that will send a nurse to my house. Somehow this is less expensive... to have my own nurse drive 2 hours to my house every other week to sit with me for 6 hours. Insurance and health care in general makes SO much sense. I've been getting weaned off of my prednisone, estradiol patches, and estradiol pills. YAY!

Still not a fan of all the pounds I have packed on, but trying to put it out of my mind by reminding meyself the baby is doing well and that is what matters most.

We're slowly working on getting everything we will need. Picked up a second crib that is made by the same company as Elle's on craigslist with a very fancy mattress I would never pay full price for. :) Also found a dresser/changing table on craigslist. Now we just need to find a glider and then buy some of the other things we are considering necessities (second camera for our video monitor, sound machine...).

I have an appt in 2 weeks with the lactation doctor to find out her recommendations for what supplements I should take and any other instructions following birth. I am SO hoping that breastfeeding works for me this time and that I actually produce breastmilk! If not.. I know what our backup plan is and know that he will be just fine.... but I still really want this to work.

Oh man, insurance is so kooky sometimes! I hope you feel better soon, there is nothing worse than nausea when taking care of a toddler, Max used to laugh at me while I was doubled over the toilet! Thinking of you guys a bunch, I can't believe you're already almost in your third trimester, I can't wait to meet baby boy!u

Yay for viability! That always feels like such a big milestone to me too! Sounds like everything is progressing nicely :)

Yay for viability day! Glad everything is going well for u...minus the sickness, hopefully that backs off sooner rather than later...what a terrible feeling!!

How's Elle doing with the cream? I found some on amazon for a few bucks less than our stores so I bought a cpl for our boy. I'd rather just start using it from the start and hopefully prevent the crocodile cheeks that Braelyn got. We just bought a glider too. I went strictly off reviews and features cuz we couldn't find any in store to sit on. I'll get back to ya on how it goes, when it arrives next week. :S Which ones are u considering?
