28 week update

I had my 28w OB checkup, which involved the glucose testing. This time it made me feel much crappier than I remember it last time, but luckily I passed with flying colors. Whoop whoop!! Two days later I had my growth ultrasound and baby is actually measuring a week AHEAD. That is great news from an immune perspective that my body isn't restricting his growth, but hopefully that means I won't be delivering a toddler. ;)

The sonographer came back in after doing the initial ultrasound to "take a few more pictures of things she missed". I asked her if it was for his bowel and she was very honest that it was. At first I thought it meant the echogenic bowel noticed at 24w was worse, but actually it was because the pernatologist didn't see ANYTHING on the pictures she took. We were chatting about it all as she took the special images and she said "you know... I guess there could be one teeeeny tiiiiiny spot, but I don't really see anything either". YAY! Awesome news!! I am really wondering if what they saw on the 24w ultrasound was a user error, particularly since I was taken to a room that usually isn't used for growth ultrasounds on a different machine.

Because things can never go too smoothly for me, I of course have some drama to add in! I was switched to 60g infusions every other week for my immune system, but because of my last set of lab results my immunologist wanted two back-to-back doses before returning to the bi-weekly schedule. Apparently now that I am using home infusions they need to get approval from the insurance company for a change in frequency, whereas in the acute setting like I was before, they do not need to do this. This caused a major snafu at the infusion company, which should NOT have happened. They did not ship my meds out like they were supposed to, so there was a whole bunch of escalation on Saturday when I realized I didn't get my meds for my Mon morning infusion. I ended up having to send in the prior auth I had JUST gotten in the mail and talk to some people, but they finally got it cleared to send my meds. They were overnighting them to me and I would have them by Mon at 830.

Monday rolls around, no meds by 11:00 when my nurse arrives. Come to find out that FedEx then messed up!! My meds are currently sitting in Memphis (I am in Wisconsin.. not even close). Now they are scrambling to get them to me and trying to find another nurse to come tomorrow. It has been super fun. And I am still not sure when I will be able to get my next infusion because of all the approvals that are in limbo. It is a GIANT mess. I am so glad I only need a few more infusions to get me to 34 weeks when I can stop. Hopefully everything works out smoothly and I can get my meds like baby boy needs them. Fingers crossed!!!

Sorry you are having to deal with that mess about the meds but glad to hear everything is well with baby and your glucose! As josamarie said, soon you won't have to worry about the meds and can enjoy the final weeks of your pregnancy...well as best as one can enjoy them!

Glad baby boy is growing wonderfully! Ugh...sounds like a total nightmare with the med situation. Hopefully that issue will be resolved soon and you can continue to enjoy your pregnancy :)

I'm so happy everything looked good on the ultrasound, that's amazing news. Sorry for the med trouble though, what a nightmare. You're getting so close, soon you won't have to worry about them!
