36w6d - Cramping and Counting Down
By ericalee » Posted Nov. 9, 2016 9:04am - 693 views - 7 comments

Tomorrow I'll be 37w!! Holy moly!! It truly is the final countdown and I don't know where the time has gone. This pregnancy has flown by.

This past Monday I had a lot of cramping in the morning and was getting a little nervous. I want the baby to come a liiiiitle early so that I don't have to be induced, but not quite THIS early. I hopped in our giant tub for a while to just relax and the cramping did go away, although there were a few times throughout the day that I felt it again. I never had anything like this with Elle so it is a brand new thing for me and I have no idea what it could or could not mean.

Last week at my OB appt she checked my cervix while she was down in my bits doing the Group B swab and said I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. The 1cm dilated didn't surprise me too much since I had that with Elle (although I later found out I wasn't dilated fully through, which is why I couldn't have my membranes stripped) but I don't remember ever being effaced. Either way, I have to start somewhere so I guess it is something??? I think she'll check me again at either my 38w appt and if not then, definitely my 39w appt where she will try to strip my membranes. WOO WOO!! Please all cross your fingers that I go into labor on my own prior to my induction date on Monday, Nov 28. I will be 39w4d at that time.

The nursery is practically finished. Need to hang up a few things to make it more personalized, but that's about it. We have the car seat base installed, plans for Elle when we're at the hospital, and some meals prepped. Now I need to focus on getting my hospital bag all ready to go, because I haven't exactly started that yet. I feel like I was prepared much earlier with Elle, but then again... I didn't have much else to think about. Chasing around a toddler after a long day of work until she goes to bed doesn't leave me with a whole lot of energy to complete tasks at night. Woof. But we'll be just fine!!

I am still not quite ready for labor yet. I am fearful of induction and a possible epidural because of what happened last time. They say you forget it once you have the baby in your arms, but I have definitely not forgotten it yet.... hopefully that changes ASAP!!

I'm excited to meet this little boy and for our family to evolve into a family of four. I'm also kind of terrified of what it will mean as well. TWO children?! I still feel like I am learning how to succeed with ONE some days. I also hope that Elle handles this ok. I love her so much and feel so protective of her, even though I know this is going to be good for us long-term. Just not sure she's really going to get that at such a young age.

Less than 3 weeks to go... holy crap!!!

I cannot believe you're almost there! Jeez this year has gone by so fast! Can't wait to see the birth announcement! It might be difficult at first managing 2 kiddos but you'll figure it out. Parenting really is the ultimate example of trial and error!

Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed he comes on his own! It's definitely a learning curve, but everyone (Elle most of all) is going to be amazing! 9 months in and I still occasionally have days where I'm like "holy shit, two?!" but they are few and far between, and M has loved his baby from the start. She's going to be an awesome big sister!
