First Prenatal Check-Up

Hmmm....I have been a lil MIA when it comes to updating my Journal. There has just been a lot going on lately...
Firstly DH and I had to move about a week ago. So poor me and my helper had to pack up our little (not really so little) world and make sure the house ready for the new tenants. So most of last week was spent on packing things away and moving house. I have to say...though it was short notice...we managed just fine...proud moment!!!!
So on the same day as the move (Thursday 31st July) we had our first prenatal check-up. I was nervous...but my DH managed to calm me down a little. Two days prior to the appointment my symptoms disappeared...like every single one of them...so I went into a panic mode and was freaking out but again...DH calmed me down and we relaxed until the day came for the appo.
When we got to the doctor's appointment the receptionist asked for a urine sample, so off I went to empty my bladder and stuck this weird stick in the urine and then took it back to her and she made some notes on my file and asked me to hope on the scale (NIGHTMARE) and then took my blood pressure. BP was fine,thank heavens and the weight was ok, however...I lost 2kilos. I don't throw up or anything...and in actual fact...I eat all the time.
So we waited for like an hour after that happened to go in and see the obgyn. Informed him that my GP confirmed the pregnancy about 3 weeks ago and now I'm here for my first prenatal check-up. It was rather quick...or maybe it was because he already knew my history. He told me to go into the scan room and lay on the bed. And DH followed and I said a quick little prayer! Hoped everything is ok!!!
So I pulled up my top and he applied that cold gel to my abs and he was like "Did you empty your bladder?" and I was like yup...for the urine test. Then he told me he's going to do the transvaginal scan. So off my panties went and voila....there was our lil bean! And I saw the heartbeat flickering before he even told us there's the baby's heartbeat. So he measured and it turns out I was 8 weeks pregnant and we got to hear the heartbeat as well. Super fast! LOL! but I even forgot to ask where it measured...but I assumed all is well because he didn't say anything alarming.
Seeing the look on my husbands face was just priceless! He was grinning from ear to ear! LOL! And that just made me smile and feel super happy!
Then the obgyn gave me a form for the blood work. Will get my results on my next appointment.
So overall of the appointment...it went great and we were happy.
