10 week appointment - Update

So, all is well with me and the baby! I found out all of the bloodwork came back normal, and I'm not even considered a pre-diabetic at this point as my A1c was only a 5.4. I'm so happy you have no idea!

My midwife is talking to another doctor to see what they think about offering me the Glucola test at 20 weeks; they may or may not make me take the test, but I will know by next appt.

Today I opted for the Serum screening for Down Syndrome. Though it doesn't run in either of our families, it's a scary thing to think about - and I pray all is well. I had the first screen done today, the next one will be done at my next appt.

I also had spoken with my midwife today about how my oldest son was preterm, and they now want to put me on this new shot (I don't know if it's new, but I never had it with my last son) which is called Makeena I believe? It's a progesterone based shot to prevent early labor. The idea of the shot scares me, because it can cause depression or make depression symptoms worse; I already have issues. She is really pushing for me to get it though, so I have to think about it. Has anyone else had this shot? What was your experience like?

Apparently, I've only gained 7 lbs this whole pregnancy - less than I thought - so I'm happy :)

They gave me a plethora or free stuff to bring home with me today, from literature (magazines and pamphlets) to a baby blanket and more. They also gave me some prenatal samples; I am really looking forward to trying the Citra-Natal, which wards off nausea and helps with constipation - both of which are my arch enemies right now.

I hope everyone is doing well!

My next appt is next month on the 2nd.

So glad they investigated more into a diabetic diagnosis.

I've been on it 5 weeks BTW so I would think any side effects would have shown by now.

Yeah I looked it up , the shot I get is the same thing its the 17p shot. Makena must be the manufacturer. It doesn't hurt much, though can be sore a couple days later. I say get it...I don't notice anything but normal mood swings...mostly annoyance with people but not depression. You can always stop it later. If you want to.

So, is it the same thing as the Makeena? I'm assuming so. Wow, you're lucky you have a nurse that comes out to the house! That's so great. I'm just nervous because of the side effects (potential) I read about in the pamphlet. I tend to have health anxiety and over analyze everything and think too much - aside from worry too much. It's pathetic, really. lol My mom told me not to get it, and my husband told me not to get it - but I don't want to go against medical advice, so I don't know what to do at this point. It's good to know you haven't had any side effects, though! That's encouraging.

I'm on a weekly progesterone shot. The nurse comes to my house so its pretty convenient. All of my children were preterm 4 weeks + . I don't notice any side effects ...though I've never had issues with depression clinically so it may be something I just pass on as pregnancy weirdness. Congrats on your clean bill of health!
