UPDATE - Threatened Miscarriage and Subchorionic Hematoma
By SarahEMcCormick » Posted Sep. 21, 2015 6:17pm - 430 views - 6 comments

Today at 9:30 I went in to see my midwife. She got the report from the hospital and went over it with me, and then used the dopplar over my stomach and located the baby's heartbeat right away - 167. From there, we took a look on the sonogram machine and saw the baby. It must have been sleeping, because at first the baby wasn't moving. That scared me. When she moved the machine over my stomach a bit harder, the baby lifted its arm and turned its head towards the sonogram slowly and it turned back to laying on its back, to speak. The baby is fine, the heartbeat is fine.

My midwife said the hemorrhage isn't too bad of one, though I don't have the specific measurements. The hospital didn't measure it because it apparently didn't look significant enough to require a measurement. From there, she said that as of right now everything looks fine - but that if I saturate a pad in an hour or have severe cramping or both, I need to head to the ER immediately or call her. Needless to say, today's visit didn't really put my mind at ease. Though I'm super happy the baby is okay, there is basically nothing I can do to stop the bleed. She said the hemorrhage should heal itself - but nobody can say, because it's hard to tell which way it's going to go. She said she thinks I should be okay. She checked my cervix and said its closed and not dilated at all.

She doesn't want me on bed rest as pregnant women have an increased risk of blood clots in the legs. She wants me to stay up and moving around but rest when I need to. I think I am going to be resting for the majority of the day for the next few days.

I am still bleeding, though not nearly as much. However, the blood is still there and that's disconcerting.

I am still praying tons, and I appreciate everyone's prayers here. You are all amazing for it; thank you xo I will update more as I know anything.

I just saw this Sarah, and your update in the comments. Relieved to hear the bleeding slowed down and came to an end and that the baby is OK. Be careful about the cervix checks...I personally wouldn't be comfortable with them doing that if I was in your position...paranoid much? I check my own cervix for charting purposes and *might* do it myself but probably not in your situation. Idk...?

Thank you ladies for your comments! All of the encouragement and support as well as prayers are really helping to get me through. I am happy to announce that as of late this afternoon, I have stopped bleeding!!! It was Brown in cokor for most of the day today, like old blood, and was very minimal, and then it tapered off into the evening hours. As of right now, its gone. BUT...I am not in the clear. I know it can come back. A girl I know on my preggie app stopped bleeding as she had the same issue as me...then it came back and hit her full force, and she lost her baby tonight. Stuff like that puts everything into perspective, keeps me humble and praying, and also, keeps me thinking realistically. I am still praying and I ask that you continue to keep me and my sweet baby in your prayers. Xo

Happy, happy, happy thoughts. It's great that baby continues to be ok...just focus on that! Try not to think about the negative things.

My RI told me to be a "couch potato" when I had an SCH. I could go for slow strolls, go to work (since I sit at a computer), but no lifting over 5-10 lbs, no intercourse, no errand running all day. Mine took 4-6 weeks to fully go away, but started shrinking visibly after 2.
